Moore moved to Michigan from Hillsboro, Illinois between his sophomore and junior seasons. He has been a fan favorite in the state ever since.
Moore has quietly put in the work needed to become a special basketball player. He has watched his stock continue to rise all the way from Illinois to Michigan. Moore could be described best as a ‘coach’s dream’. He has a reputation as a hard worker who is constantly striving to improve. Moore, as a leader, brings a positive environment to every team he plays on.
Donavan Moore has committed to the University of Toledo. He was their main target in this recruiting class. Moore was also recruited by, among others, Bradley, Central Michigan, and Miami (OH).
Moore had an outstanding junior season at West Bloomfield. He averaged 18ppg, 6apg, and 6rpg. Moore was named to the 2017-2018 All-OAA team, joining elite talent like Foster Loyer, Taylor Currie, and Carl Bow.
Donavan Moore has an elite skill set. He has a knack for getting to the lane using his slick nature and great body control. Moore is a long and athletic scorer. He’s an explosive lefty scorer who can keep the scoreboard moving. Moore is a strong ball handler who can create his own shot at any time. He is excellent in transition, leading the break or attacking the rim from the wing and finishing at the rim. Moore is a versatile guard with the ability to play off the ball and the skills needed to handle the ball and slide to the point guard position. He has good court vision and finds open teammates, even when in traffic. Moore gets off the floor quickly and is an elite offensive rebounder. This makes him a threat at all times to get put back buckets.
Moore is solid on the defensive end as well. He moves well laterally which allows him to stay in front of his opponent. Moore is probably just scratching the surface of the dominant defender he’s becoming. He is a great rebounding guard on the defensive end.
Donavan Moore has worked hard and earned the right to call himself one of Michigan’s top players. He will be a must see player this season and a definite factor in the Mr. Basketball race.
