It was a very slow paced and half-court oriented game. There was only one lead change in the second quarter as the Friars took control for the most of the game and finished with the win.
Let’s take a look at the talented prospects who stood out in the TAPPS vs. SPC matchup:
Player Breakdown
Jake Milkereit / 6’4″ / SG / Bishop Lynch / 2020
Co-Player of the Game
Milkereit scored a game-high 27 points in the win. He made open shots and scored comfortably off the catch. The junior guard is bound to have a big spring/summer if he can keep up this consistent level of play. Last year, he played behind seniors such as: Sean Coman, Jordan Buck and Steven Samuels. However, this year he stepped into his starting role ready to produce. Milkereit is the Friars’ go-to guy offensively and is continuing to thrive. His efforts this season have earned him recent offers from Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado.
Imo Essien / 5’10″ / PG / Bishop Lynch / 2020
Co-Player of the Game
Essien also is another guard who is in his first year of starting full-time on varsity after the graduation of Zach Rouseau (Midwestern State). It is safe to say coaches would love to have him as their point guard. He runs the show very well for the Friars by finding his teammates for open looks, while taking advantage of his own scoring opportunities. The sophomore guard is a cerebral point guard who changes speeds very well and is nice with the ball in his hands. He also is a capable shooter from the perimeter. Essien finished with 20 points and a few assists in the private school matchup.
Jordan Simmons / 6’1″ / SG / Greenhill / 2019
The Air Force commit is confident in letting it fly from deep. He never has seen a shot he did not like from behind the arc. Simmons can shoot it with range; but, he must get better within finding better shots for others within the offense. Simmons led Greenhill in scoring with 22 points in the loss. He will be one of the top scorers in SPC play.
Grant Bulmash / 6’5″ / SF / Greenhill / 2020
The lefty forward played inside and out for the Hornets. He was aggressive in attacking the rim and drawing fouls. Although, he did not take advantage of his opportunities at the charity stripe, Bulmash still showed that he can hit a stationary jumper from three-point range. The last junior ranked in the 2020 top 100 added 16 points in the loss.
