It was the battle of the Tigers as Lancaster (10-1) came to visit Dallas Lincoln (6-7) at Ellis-Davis Fieldhouse Tuesday night. It was truly an exciting game to spectate as Mike Leslie and Landon Haaf were in attendance doing play-by-play commentary with WFAA broadcasting the game on Facebook live.
1st Q | 2nd Q | 3rd Q | 4th Q | Total | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Lincoln | 13 | 22 | 14 | 15 | 64 |
Lancaster | 25 | 18 | 17 | 24 | 84 |
Lancaster jumped out to an 18-7 lead from the get go and finished the quarter up twelve. Lincoln fought back to start the second quarter and closed the gap to two points. It was a fast-paced high scoring half as Lancaster entered the locker room up eight points.
Lincoln slowed the pace for most of the 3rd. However, Lancaster picked it up and finished the period on an 8-0 run. In the fourth, Lancaster picked up where the left off adding to their double digit lead and winning the game by twenty. Here are the players who stood out:
Player Breakdown
Mike Miles / 6’2″ / PG / Lancaster / 2020
Coming back from a Cypress Tournament where he was awarded the MVP, Mike came back to Dallas still looking for blood. He is playing at a very high level and is looking like the best point guard in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I am loving his aggression in how he is attacking inside and letting the game to him from the outside. Miles is proving to be a solid shot creator and was simply getting buckets from all three levels last night. The junior guard led all scorers with 26 points.
Wade Taylor IV / 5’10″ / PG / Lancaster / 2021
There is not any sophomore guard in the state that is better than Wade Taylor right now. He is extremely fast and has an ultimate clip. If there was a Steph Curry award, he would most likely receive it. Taylor drained four three-pointers and scored 24 points in the win.
Marco Foster / 6’2″ / SG / Lancaster / 2020
Foster did not shoot it as well as he did in the Cypress Tournament championship game; however, he proved that he is more than just a sharpshooter. The junior guard got to the basket and finished softy in the paint. He added 16 points in the victory.
Quinntez Grimes / 6’7″ / PF / Dallas Lincoln / 2020
Grimes plays summer ball with Taylor and Foster on the Adidas Circuit this past year, but he was not all buddy-buddy with them for this matchup. Lincoln ran their offense through Grimes because of his height advantage in the paint. The junior forward played with a very high motor, fighting for 50/50 balls on the glass and on the floor. He grabbed defensive boards and led the break with accurate outlet passes. Offensively, Lancaster could not stop him when he played with his back to the basket. He displayed solid footwork and post moves that lead to easy baskets. Grimes led Lincoln in scoring with 24 points.
Jon’Terrion Davis / 6’4″ / PF / Dallas Lincoln / 2020
????Hidden Gem????
Davis did a great job scoring in the paint off of putbacks and transition finishes. He played big on the offensive boards and was consistently battling for the basketball. The junior forward scored 16 points in the loss.
Dorien Goodman / 5’10″ / PG / Dallas Lincoln / 2022
????Diaper Dandy????
Goodman is a new Diaper Dandy that opened my eyes last night with his confidence. He hit a couple of hesi-pull up jumpers and was not afraid to guard and go at Lancaster’s talented guards. Goodman did more than hold his own and will be one to look out for over the next couple of years.
