Ryan Kalkbrenner 7’0″ Trinity (’20) – The talented young big scored a game-high 24 points and was a dominant force in the Titans victory over St. Charles. He got plenty of post touches and displayed a nice touch around the basket. He also had some impressive rim runs, which resulted in slam dunks. As usual, he displayed his shot blocking prowess as one of the top rim protectors in the state.
Devion Harris 6’6″ Parkway Central (’20) – Despite battling some foul trouble, Harris still managed a double-double in a victory over MICDS. He displayed his ability to protect the rim with several blocked shots. He is a strong offensive player around the basket and he has added a very effective jumper from the mid-range area off the catch. He has really raised his performance this year in leading the Colts to an 8-1 record.
Matt Schark 6’4″ Francis Howell (’20) – The junior match-up problem scored 19 points in a victory over Parkway South. He is a most unique player as he has the low post moves and scoring ability of an excellent center, but he can also step outside and knock down 3-pointers like a Stretch 4. Many players around are good at one of the other, but few are very good at both like Schark has proven to be.
Braden Wiggs 6’6″ St. Charles (’19) – The burly post scored xx points in the loss to Trinity. He does an excellent job of using his big body and strength to score around the basket with both hands. He also displayed so much improved ball handling ability, which he used to scored on a number of nice takes to the basket. I like how he has worked to diversify his game.
Dimitri Margelis 6’5″ Whitfield (’19) – A versatile combo forward who can cause match-up problems with his overall skill set. He can step out and knock down 3-pointers off the catch. If defenders close out on his, he has the ability to put it on the floor and get buckets with strong takes to the basket.
Aaron Hendricks 6’5″ MICDS (’21) – The young post had nine points, seven rebounds and couple of blocks in the loss to Parkway Central. He really went to work in the third quarter where he had a three minute stretch where he took over to help the Rams cut a double-digit deficit to four points. He scored well and hit the offensive boards hard. He’s a pup and still gets pushed around a little, but he has a big upside with a lot of good basketball ahead of him.
