The Lightning finished the 2017-18 season with a lackluster 8-14 record, failing to make the post-season. Having played a tough out of conference schedule, leaves the Lightning with an even 4-4 record. With two quality wins this weekend, this could be the momentum needed to kick start their season.
The team is lead by point guard Kieran Kershaw, a left point guard who is an excellent playmaker and leader. Kershaw who shows flashes of Manu Ginobili. He controlled the game against the Cashmere, scoring 23 while keeping one of the states best scorers, Mason Laddeck in check. The 6’2 junior has interest from multiple D3 schools.
While Kershaw is the leader, the 6’5 junior Sahil Randhawa, is the engine that keeps these guys going. In their big win over Cashmere, he led the game in scoring with 28 and also grabbed 12 rebounds. Along with is fundamental offensive game, his defense is what sets him apart. He is the quarterback of the defense and despite his lack of elite height, he makes up for it effort and awareness. His high motor and solid skillset makes him a perfect compliment to Kershaw.
Following their blowout win over Hoquiam, the Lightning should feel good about themselves going forward. The combination of Kershaw and Randhawa makes La Salle a tough out every time they step on the floor.
