ADM got out to a red-hot start, particularly junior guard Jaxson Millsap, who canned three first quarters 3s which helped his team jump out to a 17-6 lead. It was a back-and-forth affair from there.
Carroll owned the second quarter, while ADM — behind two more Millsap 3s — controlled the third. Then is was Carroll who dominated the final frame, helping it to secure the gritty road win.
The Carroll defense was stifling tonight, and held ADM’s top two scorers, Nate Mueller and Kobe Hardcastle, to just six total points; those to were averaging a combined 33 points per game coming into this one.
Vincent led Carroll with 13 points. Jang Jioklow was impressive, he scored 12. Carroll improves to 5-1 with he win. ADM — who was led by Millsap’s 15 points — drops to 5-2.

The Prospects
Colby Vincent, 6’3 SG, 2020 (Carroll)
We knew he could shoot it, and he showed that with two pretty 3-balls late in the game to help ice it; Vincent finished with four 3-balls on the night. It was his pair of dimes that had us impressed. His patience and vision are certainly strengths, and he’s able to put a pass on point when he sees a player cut open.
Jaxson Millsap, 6′ SG, 2020 (ADM)
Probably the biggest surprise of the night was this built 6-foot shooting guard. He canned a trio of 3s in the first quarter to help get his team out to a substantial lead. Then he went on to showcase some serious hoops IQ and awareness when he continually found open teammates with dimes. Millsap is a nice weapon of the bench for ADM.
Wesley Evers, 6’8 C, 2019 (ADM)
His sheer size alone makes him a threat in the paint defensively, and on more than one occasion he stuffed a ball back into an offensive player’s face. He also showed some strengths on the offensive end, including a mid-range jumper off the glass, and a slew of offensive rebounds.
Jang Jioklow, 6’2 G (Carroll)
This kid is a bucket-getter, and it’s clear why he came into this one leading Carroll with a 15.6 points per game average. After not scoring in the first quarter, he put in six field-goals after that. He’s a slasher and he’s pliable, and scores at the rim. On defense, he was on ADM star sophomore Nate Mueller all night, and held him check tremendously.
Chase Gladden, 6’3 C, 2020 (Carroll)
Here’s a guy that has the look and playing style of a football player, a certain toughness that proved very effective for Carroll tonight. He’s exclusively a post player, and has some not-too-fancy, but oh-so-effective moves when he gets the ball in the paint.
Nate Mueller, 5’8 PG, 2021 (ADM)
After a smashing start to his varsity career, tonight the sophomore star came back down to earth. He was unable to get anything going offensively for himself, although he did have a few nice helpers tonight. Defensively, we though he was good, despite being the smallest guy on the floor, he was using his quickness and toughness to force tough shots on some of Carroll’s top guards. He’s a sweet ball-handler with some serious vision; the shot wasn’t dropping tonight, but he’ll end up having one of the better sophomore campaigns in Iowa by season’s end.
Buomkuoth Lol, 6’3 G, 2019 (Carroll)
A lot like teammate Jioklow, Lol showcased some serious slashing ability tonight; but he also showed a sweet jumper from deep. He’s a fluid athlete and flashed one of the best Euro step buckets we’ve seen in a while. He’s nifty in transition, which makes for some exciting plays.
