In the 3rd quarter, Hoke went on a run of their own and would eventually cut the lead down to 6 points. However Southern Lee would regain control and eventually would get the win over Hoke 55-47.
Hoke County Sophomore Guard Jaquantae Harris: We are seeing him spend a lot more time at the PG spot for his squad this season and taking on more of a leadership role. He showed some flashes of his talent especially in the 3rd quarter, and is a player that D1 programs have already added to their watch list.
Hoke County Senior Guard Eli Harris: He had an off shooting night but still competed from start to finish, we already knew that he has the ability to knock down shots from different areas on the floor. Since his shot wasn’t necessarily falling, he attacked the paint and looked to draw fouls throughout this matchup.
Hoke County Junior Forward Angel Dean: With the loss of star forward Silas Love to graduation, the Bucks needed Dean to step in and play starter minutes this season. He has slimmed down and trimmed up since the last time we got the chance to see him and he’s getting better on the offensive end. Plays the game with a lot of strength and energy, which is something every team needs.
Hoke County Junior Forward/Center Tristan Little: The football player stepped on to the floor Monday night and gave Hoke some very valuable minuets in the 2nd half. He rebounded the ball well, had a few buckets in the paint and used his size and strength to defender the opposing teams’ big man.
Southern Lee Freshman Guard Jamori McDougald: The talented youngster has gotten off to a good start this season and we aren’t surprised. He has a nice skillset overall and has a good feel for the game, he will be a player to keep a very close eye on over this season as he will turn plenty of heads.
Southern Lee Senior Guard Khalil Ridges: Last time we saw him play, he was a scoring machine, causing all types of issues for defenders. This time he looked a bit different, he ran some PG, picked his spots on the court and seemed to look to give others involved much more often.
Southern Lee Senior Forward Octavius Flack: He led all scorers with 15 points and was the source of scoring for his team in the first half. He has good upper body strength and agility, using this combo to get by defenders and finish with ease.
Southern Lee Junior Guard Savion Clay: The lefty guard plays a valuable role for his squad, he shares ballhandling duties and is one of the better perimeter defenders. Scoring was not where he made the most impact, instead he looked to do all the small things to help his team.
