Get to Know Georgia’s 2021 Class
Atlanta, Georgia – The state of Georgia is loaded with a talented sophomore class and most of the top 2021 players have made big impacts in their team’s season thus far. We took a look at a few prospects to look out for in the 2021 class back in the spring during the AAU circuit. Those same names will be featured in this article as well and also a couple new names who have earned some spotlight in the last couple of months.
SG Chance Moore – Holy Innocents School
Chance was certainly one of the 2021 prospects we told you to keep an eye on before the AAU circuit began. After transferring from Chamblee High School, Moore has grown a couple inches and is now a legit 6-foot-5, and maybe even taller, shooting guard. After having an outstanding outing at the 2018 Holiday Hoopsgiving Showcase, Moore received some national spotlight. Not only did he receive the national attention, but he received offers from Xavier, Georgia, Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Clemson all in two days. Chance is a pure scorer who is able to score in all three levels. He is a lenghty 6-foot-5 two-guard and is able to connect on his jumpers whether they are contested or not.
F Cole Middleton – Pace Academy
Cole’s development process has been exciting to watch over the last few months. Sharman White, the new head coach at Pace Academy, will be a key piece to Cole’s success over his high school career. Middleton is a double double machine so far in his sophomore campaign. He is a 6-foot-6 small forward who is extremely effective on the glass. Cole has a quick second jump off the ground and has physically developed over the last couple of months. He has shown he can face up at times when in the post and is a great floor runner.
W Jamal Clyce – Pebblebrook High School
Here is a kid who has had plenty of varisty experience before coming into his sophomore season. Jamal Clyce, a 6-foot-5 wing out of Pebblebrook High School, had a nice summer circuit running with the 15U Georgia Stars in the Nike EYBL. Jamal is a very competitive prospect who is very passionate about the game of basketball and it always standouts when he is on the court. He has a major competitive edge and is a pitbull defender on defense. Jamal is a versatile wing who is able to guard the 1-5 posiitions and is not afarid to get physical. He has tremondous upside and has a very high ceiling if he contiunes to develop.
C Bretner Mutombo – Lincoln Academy
Recently receiving an offer from Georgia, the 6-foot-10 Bretner Mutombo arguably has the most upside in this loaded 2021 class. Bretner already holds offers from high major schools like Auburn, Xavier, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, and Florida. His best assest he holds is on the defensive end of the ball. Bretner is an incredibly good rim protector and is always engaged and active on defense like his uncle Dikembe Mutombo. He also has a decently good offensive game due to his presence in the paint and using his power to finish around the rim.
W Matthew Cleveland – Cambridge High School
The 6-foot-6 wing Matthew Cleveland is arguably one of the top 3, if not top 5, prospects in the 2021 class in the peach state. Cleveland is a unique and an intriguing basketball player who should be an eye-opener to college coaches once the AAU circuit begins. He contains long arms and is a player that plays at his own pace, which kind of reminds me of Kyle Anderson. Matthew can also be known as a double double machine. Besides his scoring, he is a threat on the glass and is active on defense. He is a solid scorer and gets most of his baskets inside. Matthew can slash and/or cut to the basket when he does not have the ball in his hands and could be a sneaky scorer if allow him to get free.
SG Rafael Pinzon – Lincoln Academy
Rafael Pinzón, the 6-foot-5 two guard for Lincoln Academy, has not received as much attention as he should. Pinzon is coming a solid summer circuit running with the Georgia Stars in the Nike EYBL. He is a nice perimeter scorer and has a sweet stroke when pulling it from three point range. He has made his impact during his sophomore season with a loaded and very talented Lincoln Academy squad. Rafael has a fluid game and is just a smart basketball player and is a efficient when he is on the floor.
PG Broc Bidwell – West Forsyth High School
Brco Bidwell is currently the number one point guard in the state of Georgia in the 2021 class and it will be hard to argue that he is not. The 5-foot-11 point guard is an electric scorer at the point guard position and at his size. Broc sees the floor extremely well and is very gifted. He is a crafty guard and is great in the open floor. He plays with tremondous energy and knows how to make the right play. Bidwell should be receiving some attention once we get back into the AAU season. This kid is the real deal and his game speaks for itself.
