Game Recap: Marysville Pilchuck vs. Edmonds Woodway
Marysville Pilchuck comes from behind to defeat Edmonds Woodway in one of the best games so far this season.
The final basket was scored by Raequan Battle who took the ball nearly full court length, split between two defender at his own free throw line and dropped the ball in as time expired to give Pilchuck the win, 55-53
University of Wash. commit, Raequan Battle finished with an incredible 43 points, 19 rebounds and 5 game changing blocks. All while shooting 63% from the field.
This performance broke the school record for points in a single game.
Edmonds Woodway was lead by Mutdung Bol who finished with 23 points, 8 steals and 8 rebounds.
Battle and Bol were exchanging baskets all game, including back to back two handed dunks that almost blew the roof off the gym.
Down the stretch, both teams benefited from clutch play from their supporting cast. Marysville Pilchuck’s junior guard, Alec Jones-Smith hit a clutch layup that tied the game. This was the closest the game had been since opening tap.
Edmonds Woodway’s Nuer Bol, younger brother of Mutdung Bol, chipped in 12 points. Including a big three to put the Warriors up 3 with just over 6 seconds left in the game.
After winning the game, the Tomahawk fans rushed the court leaving the once lively Warrior fans stunted and out of breath. But everyone could appreciate the show they just witnessed.
With starting point guard and 1st team all WesCo guard Luke Dobler out with a foot injury, Coach Gould had to keep his guys mentally steady.
“We had our moments where it looked like we might quit, but we were able to rally and comeback.” Said Head Coach of Marysville, Bary Gould. “These type of games are going to help us down the stretch”
Marysville Pilchuck is now 2-0 in league. They now prepare for 3A WesCo foe Shorewood who they will take on at home.
