Tristen Newton • 6’4” • SG • El Paso Burges
The El Paso native carried his team to the Fort Worth ISD championship with outstanding scoring performances throughout the weekend. He scored 44 points in the championship game vs. Bishop Lynch and unsurprisingly earned Tournament MVP honors. Newton will definitely move up in our next updated rankings.
Zach Muller • 6’4” • SF • Bishop Lynch
The wiry swingman’s motor was high in the semi-final game vs. Plano West. He cleaned up missed opportunities and scored off putbacks. Muller also got out in transition and scored through contact. His play this weekend earned himself an offer from Loyola-New Orleans.
Sammy Freeman • 6’10” • C • Justin Northwest
Freeman’s rebounding ability will translate to the next level. He always can be relied upon to grab 10+ boards a game and be an active lob target around the rim. The senior big man is looking to sign late, but it will be interesting to see what choice he makes. Minnesota and UT-Arlington were in to see him compete.
Ja’Mere Redus • 6’0” • PG • Aldine Eisenhower
Redus should not be unsigned for long. He is a lead guard who is a dawg and will give one-hundred percent effort on the defensive end. Redus shot the ball extremely well from deep in his final Whataburger Tournament game, drilling four threes on Parkview (Little Rock, AR). He received all-tournament honors for his play on both ends of the floor.
Daylen Minor • 5’10” • PG • Plano West
Daylen showcased his blazing speed on championship Saturday. He blew past the defense, got to the basket, and drilled a couple of threes. Minor at times was out of control and made questionable decisions with the rock. However, his speed and quickness helps open up a lot opportunities for easy scores.
