East Ridge came in at number one in AAAA and Prior Lake had other plans, with Dawson Garcia and Robert Jones steamrolling the paint en route to a 70-62 win. The best of the game is noted here.
Name of the game: Dawson Garcia. It’s hard to put into words how important it was for Dawson to establish himself down low so he wasn’t caging himself at the three-point line and being predictable. He had 15 points and nine rebounds in half one, thane finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds for the game.He was all over the glass getting putbacks and he displayed that lovely touch on a couple floaters. Didn’t settle for one jump shot he didn’t need. Very efficient today.
Second name of the game: Robert Jones. Jones was quiet around the basket in the first half picking up a couple fouls and travels. But he came alive and aggressive in the second frame finding deep post positiion for easy scores over the top. Finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds and a couple big blocks.
Third name of the game: Courtney Brown, Jr. Loved how quietly Courtney did his thing today. scored 20 to lead his team and had a couple huge shots to cut the PL lead at key points. He didn’t try to do too much and was patient with the ball in his hands, moving it when necessary. Strong game from him to pace the Raptors.
Fourth name of the game: Kendall Brown. At 6-foot-5 he’s got advantages while handling the ball almost every possession. He was smart to pick his spots well and attack for foul draws late in the game to get to the line. ALl the makings of a strong, experienced player who will have schools drooling (and already does). This sophomore is studly.
Fifth name of the game: Zach Zebrowski. The senior guard played quarterback this fall but was an absolute ballhawking safety today. He had a handful of tips, steals and deflections that gave East Ridge good fast break attempts with their speed and length. Zach contributed eight points and strong energy and leadership down the stretch.
