71st HS Senior Wing Tre Bell: If the season ended today, he would win the Cumberland County Most Improved Player Award without a doubt. He went from being a seldom used player to now being a starter and a top 10 scorer in the county averaging 17 PPG. His ability to score, defend and make plays above the rim will all be things that college coaches will begin to notice and his recruitment should increase.
Pine Forest HS Senior Forward Miles Ray: One of the better athletes in the area, Ray has been known for monster dunks and blocks. Just recently we saw a video surface where his head literally touched the side of the backboard when he was trying to complete a dunk. However his game is more than just dunking and it has shown this season as he is averaging 19 PPG for the Trojans. Smaller Colleges or JC programs should be watching him closely.
Cape Fear Christian Senior Guard EJ Bethea: His performances throughout the season have been pretty impressive, he’s scoring the ball at a high level which is leading his team to wins. Averaging over 20 PPG, he does a nice job of picking his spots and being aggressive to score the ball, constantly attacking defenses.
Village Christian Senior F/C Derrick Quansah: We have kept a close eye on him over these last few years and it seems like he is turning the corner with his development. Instead of finishing with layups he is throwing the ball down with dunks, and seems to be able to absorb contact better. Blocking shots and rebounding have always been things he has done well and we know that those things will transition to the next level.
Freedom Christian Junior Guard Ambaka Le Gregam: He’s new to the area so of course not too many people knew who he was but it didn’t take long to change that. Once college programs get to know him, you should see a rise in his interest going into the spring evaluation period. At 6’4 with the ability to score the ball at a high level, he’s a player that can definitely be a SG at the college level.
Grace Christian Senior Point Guard Nate Yow: You can’t measure his productivity with the amount of points or assist he finishes with in a game. Instead you have to look at his overall impact, he runs a team like it’s supposed to be ran, brings energy and effort on a consistent basis and is just an overall natural leader. D3 programs have taken notice with a recent call from Eastern University who has expressed a high amount of interest.
