This year, there were multiple seniors who had signed their letters of intents in the fall that truly stood out. Players usually play with a bit more confidence when not having to worry about where they will be playing after graduation. Here are the seniors who exemplified that and truly stood out:
Jahmius Ramsey • 6’5” • SG • Duncanville
Ramsey’s incredible performances were solely based off of will. He wanted it more than his opponent and he showed it. Ramsey led Duncanville to the Whataburger Tournament Championship, which included a 34 point performance against #1 Denton Guyer in front of his future head coach Chris Beard. The Texas Tech signee was awarded the MVP of the tournament because of his incredible performances.
Jalen Wilson • 6’7” • SF • Denton Guyer
Wilson is continuing to add to his bag offensively. There were multiple times where he was creating shots for himself while not over dribbling. The work he puts in behind closed doors is evident. It will be fun to see how it all comes together for him. He will be playing for a Michigan staff that is known for getting the most out of its players.
Avery Anderson III • 6’2” • SG • Justin Northwest
When Avery wants to turn it on and be amazing, he will. That is exactly what he did for the majority of the Whataburger Tournament. Elite shot making off the bounce, flashy passes and breath-taking defensive plays were provided by the Oklahoma State signee. Anderson consistently put up big numbers in the scoring department. He will need to continue to perform at this level if he wants to get the Texans back to the state tournament this postseason. Anderson was awarded All-Tournament team after torching opponents from all three levels throughout the weekend.
Jalen Jackson • 5’11” • PG • San Antonio Wagner
North Texas got a steal in Jalen Jackson. His toughness, leadership, and way he plays the position would translate within the power five. Jackson willed his team to tournament victories. He was awarded all-tournament team for his performances.
Ja’Mare Redus • 6’0” • PG • Aldine Eisenhower
Texas Southern has a legitimate dog in Redus. He is on the floor to completely shut down opposing guards, facilitate primarily, and score secondarily. Redus is an elite ball hawk that will constantly apply full court pressure. He is one of the best two-way point guards this state has to offer.
Max Abmas • 5’11” • SG • Dallas Jesuit
Abmas can flat out score the rock. He will be utilized as a potential spark plug at Oral Roberts in the near future. He fills it up from deep and will score of quick released attempts from inside the arc. Abmas is a bit streaky, but is always a threat to heat up in a hurry. The senior guard earned All-Tournament honors after his play this weekend.
Trazarien White • 6’5” • PF • Mansfield Timberview
Coaches can count on White to play bigger than what he actually is. He impressed me with his shooting from inside the arc. The Air Force signee is always looking to make things happen and does not need the ball in his hands to be effective. His motor will be key as the T’Wolves look to make another deep run.
