BEST ATHLETE | COREY DYCHES | POTOMAC ‘20
At 6-foot-2, Corey Dyches is an incredible leaper with quick reactions and excellent hands. Dyches showcased tremendous foot speed and lateral quickness throughout Potomac’s win over Theodore Roosevelt. He had two dunks, one of which was a put back, and most of his points came in the paint. Dyches finished with 17 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, and 3 turnovers.
BEST CEILING | ABDOU SAMBO | FREDERICK DOUGLASS ‘21
At close to 6-foot-9 with good size, length and the ability to switch out onto guards as well as protect the rim, Abdou Sambo also stood out on the offensive end as a result of his promising skill set. Sambo demonstrated a smooth perimeter jump shot and the ability to handle the ball in transition. He hit all 8 of his free throw attempts and 1 of 3 triples on his way to recording 21 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assists, and 4 turnovers.
BEST MOTOR | KAYLEN VINES | FREDERICK DOUGLASS ‘19
Kaylen Vines was relentless in his effort to keep his team close despite losing to Riverdale Baptist. Douglass outscored Riverdale 29-19 in the fourth, and Vines was the catalyst. He fought hard for every rebound, 50/50 ball, and did not settle for jumpers. Vines finished the game with a respectable stat line of 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, 1 block, and 2 turnovers.
BEST NEW FACE | JOEL WEBB | WISE ‘19
Joel Webb stood out immediately for Wise with his blend of size and athleticism. Listed at 6-foot-6, Webb plays much bigger due to his length and outstanding leaping ability. He blocked shots, ran the floor, and finished strong in traffic. Webb recorded 16 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 3 turnovers. He did shoot just 2 of 11 from the line, which was unimpressive.
BEST PASSER | MYLES ANDERSON | RIVERDALE BAPTST ‘19
Whether in half-court or transition, Myles Anderson has the eye for a good pass. On at least two or three occasions, Anderson threaded the needle and hit a teammate with a crisp, accurate pocket pass. He handed out 3 dimes in Riverdale’s win over Douglass.
BEST PLAY | TERVONDRE WILLIAMS | MCKINLEY TECH ‘19

BEST RIM PROTECTOR | BOBBY CARSON | BOWIE ‘19
Bobby Carson was blocking shots and letting his opponents know about it on Saturday. So much so that he received a technical foul after swatting one into the stands. The lanky, athletic 6-foot-6 forward finished the game with 5 blocks on his way to a double-double (13 points, 14 rebounds), and made sure that opponents thought twice before challenging him at the rim.
BEST SLEEPER | CAM TWEEDY | WESTLAKE ‘20
Cam Tweedy is a kid who we’ve heard about for a while, but hadn’t really watched him up close until Saturday. Tweedy is a skilled, athletic forward with good size at 6-foot-6, and he impressed by recording 25 points and 9 rebounds on his way to winning MVP of Westlake’s win over Good Counsel.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | BEZ MBENG | GOOD COUNSEL ‘21
Bez Mbeng is showing that as a sophomore, he is already Good Counsel’s best and most important player. Mbeng he scored an efficient 24 points vs. Westlake, but probably had to score about 34 for his team to have a real chance to win the game. He shot 9 of 14 from the field, 3 of 7 from deep, and 3 of 4 from the line. Mbeng not only scored efficiently, but was very good defensively both on and off the ball. He recorded 4 steals and 4 defensive rebounds, to go along with 3 assists, 1 block, and 1 turnover.
BEST UNSIGNED SENIOR | CHARLIE WEBER | O’CONNELL ‘19
Charlie Weber called O’Connell’s win over St. Charles “the best game” they’ve had as a team. The athletic 6-foot-8+ forward flirted with a triple double in a comfortable blowout, and showed that he can not only rebound, run the floor, and finish, but also shoot efficiently from the perimeter.
