The tournament featured some of the top teams in the region and has plenty of talent on display. Here is the wrap-up from the tournament from PrepHoopsNC writer Justin Byerly.
Cone Has Huge Night
One of the top 2020 guards in the nation, Jalen Cone
Jalen Coneout of Walkertown HS in Kernersville, North Carolina put on a show against Providence Day. The 5-foot-9 junior scored 49 points. The speedster in the open floor has the same explosiveness as Chris Clemons and the leaping ability is very similar to the Campbell University junior guard. Cone has strong instincts and can score on almost anyone. Cone went 18-28 from the floor in the scoring outburst. The ultra-athletic guard made seven three-pointers and recorded five assists.
Hayes Has Another Coming Out Party
Camren Hayes, a re-classed sophomore had a great showing at The Crown Town Classic. The 6-foot-1 sophomore guard even picked up another ACC offer with his play over the weekend as Virginia Tech pulled the trigger and offered the skilled guard at Greensboro Day. Hayes scored 20 points against the two-time defending 3-A NCHSAA champs Cox Mill HS and Duke-bound recruit Wendell Moore.
Wendell Moore Keeps Winning
The Duke-bound senior has his main goals set on winning a third NCHSAA 3-A state title in three years but he helped his Chargers take down one of the most prominent NCISAA teams in history on Saturday at the Crown Town Classic as Cox Mill HS beat Greensboro Day by 14 points. Moore chipped in 25 points in the win. His fellow senior counterpart Cody Cline, a 6-foot-2 combo guard scored 15 points in the win and is still unsigned.
