Southern Lee vs Douglas Byrd: The Cavs are off to a great start and part of that is due to the stellar play of their backcourt in Khalil Ridges and Freshman Jamori McDougald. Both can score the ball at a nice rate and have seemed to mesh well together. Douglas Byrd is a team with only three seniors on the roster, and they have struggled this season but under a new energetic coach, they should get things right in a matter of time.
Jack Britt vs Grays Creek: This matchup has all the makings of a good one, with both teams have some wins and losses so far. Grays Creek gets their contributions from mostly seniors Antonio Dupree and Christian Crockett with some rebounding and blocks from junior F/C Tyler Strickland. Jack Britt is led by Senior Forward Calvin Washington and Junior Wing Langston Davis, both who are scoring in double figures on a nightly basis.
Pine Forest vs Triton: Triton HS comes into the matchup with a record of 4-3 with one of their leading performers being Senior Derreon Burnett who is averaging over 15 PPG. They reached the Harnett County shootout so it will be interesting to see how they matchup in this game. Pine Forest has gotten off to a solid start this season, at 6-3 with multiple players contributing to their success. One of those players is Forward Miles Ray, who is 3rd in scoring in CC public school. Senior Guard Adrian Elliot has also played well for the Trojans averaging over 12 PPG and knocking down the trey ball at a high rate.
Lakewood vs Terry Sanford: Lakewood has struggled this season with a record of 0-6 so far and will have their hands full as they take on Terry Sanford on their home floor. The Bulldogs have a record 5-1 and have got some wins against some solid competition. Junior Guard Jay Hickman has gotten off to a nice start, averaging over 15 per contest, add in the 10 PPG from Junior Wing Yates Johnson and the 9 PPG being dropped by Junior Forward Kyron Kelly and Sophomore Guard Kellen Ballou and you have good contributions across the board.
