Mansfield and Tascosa was a very intriguing matchup because the game featured two of the Top Unsigned Seniors in the class of 2019 BJ Anderson and Terrell Williams. The game was low scoring but both teams played physical and fought to the end but Mansfield found a way to pull away to win 48-31. Here are some of the players from this game that stood out in the Championship.
Byron Nelson Tournament Champions
Mansfield High defeated Flower Mound Marcus, LD Bell and Amarillo Tascosa to claim the title.
Player Recaps:
Terrell Williams / 6’6” / Forward / Mansfield / 2019
Williams is a Forward that can do a lot of things on the floor. Williams displayed the ability to rebound, finish at the rim and defend well on the perimeter.
Drew Crippen / 6’4” / SG / Mansfield / 2021
Crippen is a smooth guard that can handle it against pressure but is more comfortable off the ball than he is at the lead guard spot. Crippen can score it off the catch or by attacking the rim off of triple threat from the perimeter.
Dj Arnold / PG / 5’9” / Mansfield / 2019
Arnold didn’t score a single point in the championship game but what was most impressive to me was that he was facilitating and distributing the ball at a high rate. Arnold Finished with 9 assists in a win over Tascosa.
Bj Anderson / 6’5” / Forward / Tascosa / 2019
Anderson didn’t have a big scoring game versus Mansfield but he did show some toughness and physicality on both ends on the floor. Anderson has to continue to work on hitting jumpers more consistently to make him more versatile on the offensive end.
