DREW TIMME IS A FUTURE PRO
Drew Timme (pictured above) has been nothing short of the word UNSTOPPABLE this season. He is a force to be reckoned with and is constantly willing his J.J. Pearce squad to barnburners.
TimmeThere are three reasons why the best big man in the state will be compensated for his abilities one day:
1. Skillset: Timme is arguably the most skilled big in the country while playing on the low block. He possesses terrific footwork and can score with a soft touch in the paint. The five-star big man can hit the mid range jumpshot and has guard skills to go along with dynamic game on the low block
2. Mindset: Coaches can always count on Timme to play hard. He is a threat to corral ten-plus rebounds each time he steps on the floor. The Gonzaga signee is also selfless and a great leader. He sees the floor and properly guides direction. Timme is always creating great scoring opportunities for his teammates on the low block and while handling the ball on the outside. He is simply an exceptional passer from the big man position.
3. College Choice: I am confident Drew Timme picked the right school for himself. Judging off of Mark Few’s big men in the past, Timme will be comfortable within the Bulldog’s system. He will be focal part of the offense and will be allowed to play his game. It does not hurt that he shares the same gear preferences as NBA Forward Kelly Olynyk.
Drew Timme combined for 46 points in his two Saturday tournament matchups vs. South Garland and Allen. But, he could not do it all by himself. There were other key players who played big in Pearce’s close loss to Allen:
Sterling Hopkins / 6’1″ / PG / Richardson J.J. Pearce / 2019
Sterling Hopkins looked good scoring in transition. He got out on the break and finished craftly under the rim. Defensively, Hopkins was active and deflected multiple passes. The senior guard finished with 15 points in the nail biting loss.
Chozen Amadi / 6’1″ / SG / Richardson J.J. Pearce / 2019
????Hidden Gem????
Chozen hit timely shots to help the Mustangs come back in the final quarter. After his play this weekend, he has earned himself the title as Pearce’s catch and shoot threat. He will not hesitate to shoot it when he gets a good look. Amadi scored 14 points in the game.
LEWISVILLE’S “KILLER K” BACKOURT IS ONE OF THE BEST THE STATE HAS TO OFFER
The Farmers of Lewisville came into the Curtis Culwell Invitational unranked with a record of.four wins and one loss. They were forced to compete for the Consolation Championship after a second round loss to the (eventual champions) Allen Eagles.
The Farmers won their bracket squeezing by Mount Pleasant and defeating the Eagles of Coppell. In their overwhelming consolation victory over Coppell, two combo guards stood out. Both of their names start with K and will kill opposing defenses when they heat up from the perimeter:
Keyonte George / 6’2″ / SG / Lewisville / 2022
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Keyonte George is a problem. He is arguably the best scorer in his class and it almost seems effortless in the way he goes about his business. The confident freshman is a talented three-level scorer. But, he was mainly clicking on one of those levels last night as he torched Coppell from behind the arc and let them know about it afterwards. He drilled six long balls in the game and finished with 25 points. George has a legitimate chance to crack the initial national rankings for his class whenever they are released.
K.J. Pruitt / 6’4″ / SG / Lewisville / 2020
The two-way combo guard is running the point for the Farmers this year and is doing a solid job of making the right passes. He fed the hot hand (Keyonte George) at the right times to put him in best position to score. What stood out was his ability to knock down the long ball. Pruitt was just like Wendy’s going four-for-four from deep, converting on all of his open opportunities. He also was aggressive in posting up and scoring on smaller defenders. The junior guard finished with 19 points and his stock will continue to rise if he keeps up his recent level of play.
