Prep Hoops has been a fixture at this event along with Swanny’s Roundball Review since it has started. Lets take a look of the opening round games on Thursday right here. Four South Carolina teams will be taking the floor on the opening night.
Hartsville HS vs Our Savior New American (NY) 6:15 P.M.
The Hartsville HS Red Foxes are fresh off a victory over Sumter HS the other night 79-70. The Red Foxes (2-2) were led in scoring by University of South Carolina signee Trae Hannibal with 21 points. Cesare Edwards (2021) chipped in with 18 points and football player Demonte Capeheart added 11 points.
The Pioneers make the trip down from Centereach, NY and our coached by Pastor Ron Stelzer. The Pioneers have plenty of talent in Jonathan Kuminga (2021) , Kuminga played last season at Huntington Prep (WV). The Pioneers also have Hassan and Fousenyi Drame and Adama Sanojo (2021).
Keenan HS vs AC Flora HS 7:30 P.M.
Two local Columbia teams will get things going in the 2nd game of the evening. These two schools are separated by 8 miles. The Keenan HS Raiders recently added Asanti Price (2019) to the mix after coming back home. Price was attending Combine Academy in Lincolnton, NC. The Raiders have plenty of talent on the roster with Dillon Jones (2020), Raekwon Horton (2020), Latrell Taylor (2019) and Qua Sanders (2019).
The Falcons have plenty of talent on the roster for Head Coach Josh Staley. Derrick Sinkler (2019) a former Keenan HS Raider a few years back leads the charge. Patrick Iriel (2020), Daniel Finney (2019), RJ Mobley (2019), Matthew Jamison (2019) and Twanye Butler (2019) will provide depth for the Falcons this season.
Aspire Academy (KY) vs Ridge View HS 8:45 P.M.
Aspire Academy Wizards will make the trip down to Columbia from Louisville, KY. The Wizards our currently (5-3) on the season and play on the Grind Session. Ahmard Harvey 6’6 and Sekou Sada Kalle 6’11 will be two players to keep a eye on for the Wizards.
The Blazers (2-0) on the young season and fresh off a Class 4A State Championship last year have a deep roster. Malcolm Wilson a Georgetown signee will have plenty of seniors by his size in Walyn Napper, Crosby Harris–James, Joseph McKenny a Southern Wesleyan (SC) signee and JaVon Anderson,
Javon Benson, Cincere Scott and Patrick Jenkins all juniors will see major minutes for the Blazers. Benson sat out last season after transferring over from Westwood HS while Scott moved into the area after playing at South Aiken HS.
