1. Pinnacle 5-2
2. Chaparral 7-1
3. Perry 6-2
4. Chandler 7-1
5. Hamilton 7-1
6. La Joya 6-1
7. Mesa 5-3
8. Mountain Pointe 4-3
9. Brophy Prep 5-2
10. Basha 5-3
Pinnacle:
No surprise here. Pinnacle is widely considered the favorite to win the 6A state championship. They’ve had a great season so far, resulting in a 5-2 record, with their most notable win coming against Shadow Mountain (Nico Mannion buzzer beat). I predict this team will remain the top seed for the majority of the season.
Chaparral:
They’ve looked really solid and have gotten off to a great start with a 7-1 record. I am very impressed to see how well they are doing, especially since they lost a great talent in Xavier Dusell (transfer). I expect them to remain in the top 3 for the rest of the season.
Mountain Pointe:
Very shocked to see them this low but with a 4-3 record, it is hard to argue against. I fully expect more from this team, they are too talented and well coached to have a 4-3 record, they will bounce back and should soon be in the top 5. They started the season hot, going 4-0 (beating Basha, Hamilton, Pinnacle, North). Since then, they have lost 3 straight against Brophy Prep, Chandler, and Cesar Chavez.
Cesar Chavez:
Cesar Chavez is currently ranked at #11. However, I think they will soon crack the top 10 and have high potential to rise even higher. They have a very athletic team and Ty Ty Washington is just too talented of a player to stop night in and night out. He has played very well this far and should lead his team to a higher ranking very soon. Cesar Chavez had a very impressive win against Mountain Pointe at home (77-62).
