Player Of The Week: Week 5 Florida
Week 5 is nearly over and with that, we need to take a look at our four nominees for Player Of The Week.
Past winners:
Week 1 – 2019 Lake Mary Prep G Michael Gavin
Week 2 – 2020 Cooper City G Dallas Graziani
Week 3 – 2020 Doral G Devin Carter
Week 4 – 2019 Villages G Tre Mann
Here are the nominees.
Devin Carter (Doral)
It has been a highly successful start to the season for 2020 Doral guard Devin Carter. For the 13-0 Firebirds, the defending Class 7A state champions, Carter has been a steady scorer. He scored 27 points in a win over St. Francis Catholic on Thursday and then added 24 points in a victory over Eastside, both games coming at the Hitchcock’s Challenge at Gainesville Santa Fe.
Roger McFarlane (University)
University School is 9-2 to the start the season with 2019 Duke commit Vernon Carey Jr. and Prep Hoops No. 3 overall 2020 prospect Scottie Barnes. 2020 guard Roger McFarlane has had some bright moments since arriving from Tennessee this fall. The junior dropped 23 points in a victory over Oregon Central Catholic on Thursday at the Les Schwab Invitational in Oregon.
Dionte Blanch (East Lake)
It has been quite the week for 2020 East Lake guard Dionte Blanch at the Arrow Force Holiday Classic at Sanford Seminole High. Already having a rock solid junior campaign, Blanch recorded 27 points in a Thursday win over Park Vista before putting together a 24-point outing in a victory over defending Class 4A state champions Westminster. East Lake sits at 7-1 with its lone loss coming to rival St. Pete. Blanch is averaging a team-best 22.9 PPG.
Gregg Glenn (Calvary Christian)
Earning an offer from Iowa State already this season, 2022 6’7″ Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian guard/forward Gregg Glenn is carving out a name for himself rather quickly. The freshman generated 29 points in a loss to New Jersey Bergen Catholic on Thursday night in the Holiday Basketball Classic of the Palm Beaches at Dwyer High. Glenn had a breakout summer with Team Nightrydas and his arrow is pointing up quickly.
