North Dakota Class B Games to Watch
The season is upon us. With a number of top-notch teams testing themselves early in the season, there’s bound to be some compelling basketball going on in North Dakota at both levels in the early stages of the season. Here are some games to watch in Class B this week:
Hillsboro/Central Valley vs. Kindred
The defending champion Hillsboro should get a decent test to open the season as the Burros open the season against Kindred, a team that should contend in Region 1 this season. The Vikings won 15 games a season ago and return a very good duo in sophomore big man Gavin Keller and junior guard Andrew Freier along with a number of other key rotation players. Hillsboro returns arguably the best player in the state in Carson Henningsgard but will break in a whole bunch of new guys at the varsity level.
Four Winds/Minnewaukan vs. Grafton/St. Thomas
This one should be an interesting test of which team can impose its style on the other as Grafton/St. Thomas has a strong set of big men and should be good defensively while Four Winds will try to push the pace and pile up the points. Dalton Albrecht could be a Mr. Basketball candidate as he’s one of the best big men in the state while Four Winds/Minnewaukan/s Jaeshaun Shaw is a player to watch on the perimeter.
Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood vs. Dunseith
This should be a solid test for two teams with high aspirations going into the season. Mohall-Landford-Sherwood has a new coaching staff and a lot of excitement heading into the season as the Mavericks have a solid core of returners led by big man Isaac Undlin. Dunseith won 19 games last season and returns what could be one of the top backcourts in Class B in Hunter Gladue and Lawrence Peltier Jr. Michael Two Hearts, Caleb Poitra and Liam Poitra are players to watch as well.
