5A Northeast Valley Overview: Standings & Standouts
We are a good portion of away through the season and I think it is time to look at some region standings and discuss what the potential future may look like for these regions/teams. Here is the 5A Northeast Valley Overview:
Standings: As of 12/9/18
1. Cactus Shadows 2-0 (Region) 6-1 (Conference) 6-1 (Overall)
2. McClintock 2-0 (Region) 4-1 (Conference) 5-1 (Overall)
3. Paradise Valley 1-0 (Region) 5-0 (Conference) 5-1 (Overall)
4. Notre Dame Prep 1-1 (Region) 3-4 (Conference) 3-4 (Overall)
5. Horizon 0-1 (Region) 2-3 (Conference) 2-4 (Overall)
6. North Canyon 0-2 (Region) 2-3 (Conference) 2-3 (Overall)
7. Desert Mountain 0-2 (Region) 1-3 (Conference) 2-4 (Overall)
Top Players:
Josh Baker (McClintock): This guy has put up a very impressive stat line and some impressive scoring figures. He is currently averaging 23.3 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 4.4 APG, and 3 SPG. That is a next level stat line and I am interested to see if he can keep it up all season long.
Jake Benci (Cactus Shadows): Jake is a big part of what Cactus Shadows does. He is having a great season averaging 13 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game. He has done a great job leading that team to first place.
Aidyn Parrish (North Canyon): This guy is a dead eye shooter. He is absolutely lethal from deep. He shoots with so much confidence and is a very good play maker.
Projection
This a very highly competitive region. The top three teams (Cactus Shadows, McClintock, Paradise Valley) are all in the running for first place. If I had to choose one, I would pick McClintock to win the region because they have the best overall player, in my opinion. Josh Baker wins player of the year, in this region.
