5 Stars of the Game: Fenwick vs Oak Park River Forest
Fenwick and OPRF got together at the Chicago Elite Classic this weekend for another rivalry game that did not disappoint! The passion between the players, coaches, and fans makes this one of the best rivalries in Illinois High School basketball and that was on full display Friday night. Ultimately, Fenwick came away with a 66-65 overtime victory, and here are the 5 players that stood out most to me:
1 Star: Dashon Enoch – the 6’1’’ Senior PG from OPRF is the perfect player for this rivalry. Enoch missed a portion of the game with an injury, but OPRF was simply better with him on the court. Enoch is the fearless leader who wants the ball in his hands when it matters most. He really has a flare for the dramatic moments and rises to the occasion.
2 Stars: Chase Robinson – Robinson is a 6’2’’ Senior Guard out of OPRF who was constantly reliable throughout the game. He attacks the lane with power and finishes strong. Robinson is also great with the ball in his hands and sees the court well. Plus shooter. Finished with 16 points, 4 assists and 6 rebounds.
3 Stars: Solomon Oraegbu – a 6’2’’ Senior PG out of Fenwick, Oraegbu has a great ability to score the ball and get his teammates involved. He gets into the lane with ease and his very smooth and under control in the process. Also has a great touch around the rim and a solid mid-range game. Oraegbu finished with 17 points and 5 rebounds.
4 Stars: Anthony Roberts – Roberts is a 6’4’’ Senior Guard from OPRF and is a rock-solid player on both ends of the floor. His length and athleticism and ability to guard the ball were very impressive. Great transition player and natural scorer. Roberts finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds.
5 Stars: Bryce Hopkins – a highly touted Sophomore prospect, the 6’5’’ Hopkins was the best player on the court, once again. He is very skilled as a ball handler in transition and uses his size well to get position in the post. Crafty finisher. Hopkins finished with a game high 30 points, went 8-8 from the free throw line, and collected 13 rebounds.
