4A West Valley Overview
We are a good portion of away through the season and I think it is time to look at some region standings and discuss what the potential future may look like for these regions/teams. Here is the 4A West Valley Overview:
Standings: As of 12/9/18
1. Peoria 1-0 (Region) 5-0 (Conference) 5-0 (Overall)
2. Deer Valley 0-0 (Region) 5-0 (Conference) 5-0 (Overall)
3. Desert Edge 0-0 (Region) 3-2 (Conference) 3-2 (Overall)
4. Cactus 0-0 (Region) 3-3 (Conference) 3-4 (Overall)
5. Lake Havasu 0-1 (Region) 0-1 (Conference) 3-1 (Overall)
Top Players:
Kaleb Brown (Peoria): Very talented scorer and has the ability to run an offense. I really like Brown’s game, especially offensively. He may be on the smaller side but he is more than capable of scoring in bunches.
Johny Diaz (Deer Valley): He is the heart and soul of that Deer Valley team. He is a very smart point guard, who runs the DV offense quite nicely. The passion he plays with is also very notable.
Ben Seale (Cactus): Seale is super athletic and quick. He can easily get to the paint and create opportunities for himself or his teammates. He is best offensively, when he is attacking the rim hard.
Projection
While Peoria is tied for first place with DV, I think Deer Valley ends up winning this region. I do think Peoria is a very good team but Deer Valley has too much fire power to be anything but first place. I have also liked what I have seen from Cactus HS. They may not be the most fundamentally sound team but they play with a lot of heart and are always relatively in any game, due to their hard play.
