2019 Recruiting Updates
As the season continues to progress, college prospects start making their commitments and signings. Some of the top recruits in the 2019 class have already chosen their colleges, but in the past couple weeks, more dominos have started to fall.
BJ Comer (Prattville Christian): Comer’s play has been electric one month into the season. At 6’2, Comer can play either guard spot. Teams in need of a scoring guard have started to contact BJ. Freed-Hardmen University has offered BJ, and Comer took an unofficial visit to Furman University.
Noah Boler (Decatur Heritage): The 6’8 forward committed to a D2 school, Lee University. Boler will fit the scheme perfectly at Lee, because skilled bigs have a lot of opportunity in Lee’s system. Noah will have an excellent career playing in one of the toughest conferences in the southeast.
Keshon Lockhart (Paul Bryant): Lockhart is a 6’3 wing who is extremely athletic and one of the better perimeter defenders in the state. Coahoma Community College offered Lockhart a couple days ago. Coahoma plays in the Mississippi Juco Conference. Lockhart also has an offer from Coastal Alabama North.
Leyton Owens (GBA Prep): Owens is a small point guard who stuffs the stat sheet. This kid is a hard nosed competitor. Coahoma CC and Talladega College recently made offers to Owens. Talladega College is a NAIA D1 program.
Indrek Sunelik (Nation Prep): Sunelik’s recruiting has started to take off recently. At 6’6-6’7, Sunelik can play multiple spots on floor, which fits his skill set. He has received an offer from McNeese State and has interest from Illinois State, Columbia, and Georgetown.
Jashawn Upshaw (Stanhope Elmore): Upshaw is a 6’5 wing who is a workhorse. He can do it all. With his size and skill set, Upshaw has the ability to play 2-4. Jashawn was offered by Coahoma CC. We expect more Juco programs to have Upshaw on their radar.
Austin Kelley (Pleasant Home): Kelley is a 6’7 forward who can play both 3 and 4 spots. He is a very smart player. Kelley has worked to improve his overall skill and it’s paying off. Kelley has offers from Auburn-Montgomery, Belhaven, and has interest from others.
As the season progresses, we can’t wait to share more recruiting updates! We love seeing kids getting opportunities to fulfill their dreams and play at the next level.
