Here is a look at the best of the best, the top ranked point guards in the class of 2019:
Drew Lowder (Ann Arbor Pioneer)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #3
Lowder helps carry on the torch for a golden era of basketball in Ann Arbor. He will be heading to Holy Cross next season. Lowder may have the quickest first step in Michigan, allowing him to blow by defenders and finish or dish to open shooters. He is a brilliant floor general who puts his teammates in scoring positions, but recognizes when his team needs him to get a bucket.
Julian Dozier (UD Jesuit)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #7
Dozier has returned from Arizona, and the state of Michigan is excited that he’s back. He’s an elite passer, and basically an assist waiting to happen. Dozier uses his handles and quickness to drive the lane and draw defenders or finish. When he finishes at the rim, he can go around or over the defender.
B. Artis-White (Canton)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #13
B. Artis White is committed to Western Michigan University. This young man is incredibly quick and is a dangerous shooter. B. Artis White has great handles with a change of pace that allows him to lull a defender into a trance, than blow by him. He is a top notch defender on the perimeter who can force bad passes and turnovers.
Dylan Jergens (Howardsville Christian)
Prep Hoops Ranking: #15
Jergens might be the best shooter that the state has to offer. He recently committed to Central Michigan University. Jergens is such an elite scorer, that he is currently chasing the Michigan high school all-time scoring record. He is an underrated passer, as he dishes the ball with accuracy and efficiency. Jergens has a remarkably high basketball IQ.
Caleb Hunter (UD Jesuit)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #19
Hunter has proven himself as a Division 1 prospect, and has the offers to prove it. He has transferred to UD Jesuit and will be eligible to play in January. Hunter is versatile on the perimeter, having the ability to play either guard position with effectiveness. He is an excellent three point shooter and a solid defender who looks to create turnovers.
Isaiah Lewis (Wayne Memorial)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #20
Lewis is a great shooter with unlimited range. He is an underrated defender who can pick up steals in bunches. Lewis really developed into a top notch floor leader over the spring and summer. He has a very high ceiling and we can expect even more growth in his game as the season carries on.
