West Florence HS Turkey Shootout
Prep Hoops takes a look of the games on the final day of the West Florence HS Turkey Shootout in this article.
The event featured 8 teams through the Pee Dee and Midlands.
Marlboro County HS (Bennettsville) started out the day win a easy win over CA Johnson HS 64-34. The Bulldogs have a some young players on the roster this season. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Ryan Dupree 18 points, Damien Bruce 16 points, Kieran Leviner 11 points (3 3’s), Wesley Brown and Keyon Adams both chipped in with 5 points a piece. The Bulldogs finished the Turkey Shootout (1-2).
The CA Johnson finished the Turkey Shootout (0-3). Khajari Brown (2019) led the Green Hornets with 18 points in the loss.
Blythewood came over to the Turkey Shootout and only played in 2 games. The Bengals played Timmonsville HS and defeated the Whirlwinds 62-43. The Bengals led by Iowa State signee Tre Jackson led from the get go in this this game being played at Snead Middle School. Jackson, Kameryn Manuel and Mike Williams led the Bengals all with 10 points apiece. Travis Thompson (2019) added 6 points in the win.
The Whirlwinds a Class A school led by first year Head Coach Chris Lewis. The Whirlwinds were led in scoring by Jamaric Morris (2019) with 18 points and George McFadden added 13 points while connecting 4 three pointers. Rasheim Lyde (2019) was held to 7 points today.
The host West Florence HS Knights defeated the Loris HS Lions in the 3rd place game 61-44. Both teams were using a lot of bench in this game as the starters from the previous two nights for the Knights didn’t enter the game until the 5:55 mark of the 3rd quarter. The Lions a last minute replacement for Gray Collegiate were missing a few players with prior engagements including Jahrique Isaiah.
Sabien Nero (2019), Clark Driggers (2020), Shaquan Hardy (2020) all scored 7 points apiece. Darius Dawson (2019) chipped in with 6 points along with a host of other teammates. The Knights move to (2-1) on the season under Head Coach Daryl Jarvis.
Kennan Chestnut led the short-handed Lions with 10 points, Antonio Martin added 8 points and William Hemingway chipped in 7 points. The Lions fall to (1-2) on the season.
The nightcap game featured the Keenan HS Raiders vs Darlington HS Falcons. The game was back and forth all night long before the Raiders pulled it out 62-59 to claim the championship of the Turkey Shootout.
Keenan finished the event (2-0) were led in scoring by Dillon Jones and Raekwon Horton both with 18 points apiece. Latrell Taylor (2019) added 16 points and Qua Sanders chipped with 9 points.
The Falcons had chances in this game but just couldn’t pull away. Kenynon Scott and Tre’Quan Scott led the Falcons with 11 points. Tyshaun Johnson and Jamean Muldrow both added 10 points to have 4 Falcons in double figures this evening. The Falcons fall to (2-1) on the season under first year Head Coach Tony Heilbronn.
