As another high school season gets underway, it’s time to take a closer look at what to expect. In this series, we will be previewing various regions and classifications within the VHSL in an effort to highlight who we think are the top teams and prospects. Below we preview and predict Class 4, Region B.

Eastern View

Another wide ranging region in the center of the state, Class 4 Region B goes from the outskirts of Fredericksburg in Culpeper and Caroline all the way down through the Greater Richmond area. Another region that’s wide open, there have been some very good teams in the past that have come out. Let’s start with defending champion Huguenot, who lose three of their starters but do return a steady point guard and shot maker in 5’10” junior Jordan Parham who is set to explode this season. Monacan, who won the state championship two seasons ago, will get a big boost from local Joe Bamisile, a 6’4” junior guard who transferred back from Mountverde this season and scored 51 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Chiefs’ first win of the year. Eastern View and Caroline have been as competitive as anyone in the past few seasons, but they’re both going through a rebuilding phase at the moment. Our pick, which may come as a surprise to some, is Louisa County. Sitting between Richmond and Charlottesville, this group was impressive last season and they have a solid mix of size, experience and shotmaking ability in the backcourt with senior Chris Shelton and junior Jarrett Hunter.

Region Champion: Louisa

Region POY: Joe Bamisile | 6’4” PG | Monacan 2020

Joe Bamisile
Joe Bamisile already scored 50 points in his first game back in VA.

The 6’4” guard is back in VA and he gets the nod for Region and State Preseason POY because of the sheer numbers we expect him to put up. With his mix of size, athleticism and ability to score the basketball at all three levels, Bamisile is going to score a lot of points this season and should be pushing for a double-double as well. In his first game, a win over Powhatan, Bamisile scored 51 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had five steals as well. While we don’t expect him to put up those numbers every day, he’s going to have himself a big season that’s for sure.
