Underrated 2020 Guards: Part 2
There are a vast amount of talented guards in the country and in Florida, we see leaders all over the place.
Part 2: Here is a look at five junior guards who have been flying under the radar.
ICYMI:
2020 – Part 1
A 6’2″ blazing fast guard, Gray has suffered lingering injuries over his first two varsity seasons. But when he’s healthy, he is a factor as an attacker and a floor general. The junior’s speed and vision can’t be ignored. He earned his first offer this summer with Team Breakdown from Tennessee Tech.
Previously at Hallandale, Smith will suit up for Norland this fall and get a chance to showcase his agility and strength. A like-minded 6’3″ combo guard, he is at his best when he is going downhill and attacking the rim. Smith has plenty of untapped potential.
A stretch shooter, Desamours is going to break out in a big way for Lehigh this fall. His decision making has always been there as long with his natural athleticism. I like his chances to succeed as a junior for the Lightning.
Standing around 6’0″, Shields is a bruising guard who has a nice outside touch. A track runner as well, this kid can really pace the floor. It looks like he’ll be a main option offensively for First Academy. Defensively, he’s a tough task as well.
The son of former NFL quarterback Daunte Culpepper, Chayse is in line for a key spot for Stranahan. A 5’10” guard, he has a knack for a key pass in transition or in set plays. Expect Culpepper to be a solid presence for his group this season.
