Underclassmen : Bishop England Preseason Tourney
The Underclassmen playing in the Bishop England Preseason Tourney might of been the best in the bunch. Lets take a look at some of the kids to be following here in the years to come.
Isaiah Caldwell (2020) – Heathwood Hall (Columbia) (pictured on front)
Caldwell helped his Highlanders to 2 wins this weekend in Chucktown. Caldwell a long and rangy guard will defend players in the post out of necessity this season with the lack of height on the roster. Caldwell 6’4 a very versatile guard played 1-3 positions on the floor today. Caldwell has a older brother playing basketball at West Point Army currently. Caldwell is ranked #6 in the Prep Hoops 2020 Palmetto State Class.
Aidan McCool (2020) – Bishop England HS (Charleston)
McCool struggled today at times with his shot for the Battling Bishops. McCool a shooting guard played with Caldwell on the Grassroots Circuit with Upward Stars Southeast 2020 last few summers. McCool can really knockdown shots when he gets it going. McCool averaged
Wendell Seabrook (2020) – Charleston Math & Science
Seabrook a point guard has to look to a bit of everything for the Riptide while on the floor. Seabrook has been here for a few years after playing his freshman season at Charleston Collegiate. Seabrook really looks to make things happen while on the floor. Seabrook got the ball into the lane quite a bit today. Seabrook has the ability to change gears and get by defenders.
Cohen Gaskins (2021) – Pinewood Prep (Summerville)
Gaskins keeps on improving his game for the Panthers. Gaskins ran with local Grassroots Circuit team TMP 15U last summer. Gaskins ran a lot of point guard today for the Panthers. Gaskins rebounds the ball very well from his guard position is still a bit of a streaky shooter. Gaskins really has a good sense of court vision as he had several assists today in the victory over Charleston Math & Science.
Taijon Simmons (2021) – Bishop England HS (Charleston)
Simmons is a run-jump-athlete for the Battling Bishops. Prep Hoops first saw him in this event last year as a 9th grader. Simmons has great length and a long wingspan. Simmons 6’6 moves from block to block with great ease and covers a lot of ground around the floor. Simmons is very agile and has the ability to rebound out of his area. Simmons has yet to scratch the service of his playing ability.
Malachi Ancrum (2021) – Palmetto Christian Academy (Mount Pleasant)
Ancrum will look to take over some of the scoring load this season for the Eagles with the departure of Maliek Brown to Wando HS. Ancrum has a very slender-sleek frame while running the point guard spot for the Eagles. Ancrum will have to log a lot of minutes this season.
