The Summit Tip-Off Player Recaps (Part I)
Montreal Pena / 6’9” / C / Arlington Martin / 2020
Pena is oozing with upside. He is a big man that runs the floor like a deer. He blocked a lot of shots vs. Abilene Wylie and finished with some powerful dunks as well. Montreal still needs to work on his back to the basket game to make him more of a consistent scorer. His face up game is decent, but the more he improves his skill the harder it will be to stop him. He has the chance to be a national prospect if he puts it all together.
Matthew Reeves / 6’5″ / SF / Mansfield Legacy / 2019
Reeves does not strike you as a player that could potentially dunk on you if you are not careful, but that is exactly what he did to a player from Frisco Memorial. Matthew has good shooting ability to go along with his deceptive athleticism. He is currently an unsigned senior but his recruitment should pickup very soon.
Justice Marmara / 6’3” / SG/SF / Mansfield Lake Ridge / 2020
Marmara is a strong built guard that absorbs contact and plays physical. He also has some skill and is a streaky but capable jump shooter. Justice Brings toughness to the Lake Ridge Eagles and he has a chance to crack our next 2020 rankings if he continues to play like he’s been playing.
Austin Brewer / 6’10” / C / Abilene Wylie / 2020
Brewer really knows how to rebound the basketball. The big man consistently grabbed boards off the glass for his high school team. His team suffered a tough loss to a talented Arlington Martin. Brewer held his own against Montreal Pena, but had a hard time scoring the ball over him due to his athleticism. Brewer needs to work on his strength and skill to be able to score more in the paint. He definitely looks like he can become a Division I prospect if he continues to work on his game.
