The ACC Recruiting Rankings
The ACC has the most top 100 signed talent in the 2019 class right now. What teams have the highest ranked classes? Prep Hoops breaks it down now.
Louisville Cardinal signed Josh NickelberryOne. Louisville. Changes in the Louisville basketball program meant a fresh start and Cardinals Head Coach Chris Mack has inked a perfect group to take his program in a new direction. Five top 100 players highlighted by 6-foot-10 center Aidan Igiehon plus top 200 power forward Quinn Slazinkski rounds out the group. Jaelyn Withers (pictured above) should make a great pair with Igiehon while Samuel Williams, David Johnson, and Josh Nickelberry will give Coach Mack four years of quality backcourt play. Several of these guys will be starters for much of their career.
Two. Florida State. Patrick Williams and Balsa Koprivica are now top 50 signed Seminoles plus Zimife Nowkeji is also a four star level recruit. Each player has great size for his position and then shooting guard Nathaniel Jack is the fourth ranked junior college player in the nation rounding out the class. Leonard Hamilton took his team to the second round of the NCAAs in 16-17, the Elite Eight last year, should be a sweet 16 team this year, and now the talent is set up for more success.
Three. Syracuse. Jim Boeheim helped the future of his program putting together a future backcourt of four star Bryce Goodine, shooter Joe Girard III, and mid-year enrollee Quincy Guerrier. John Bol Ajak is the frontcourt addition giving Syracuse the 16th ranked class nationally.
Fourth. Virginia Tech. The headliner of the top 25 ranked class for Buzz Williams is Anthony Harris, a four star ranked point guard from Paul VI Catholic within the state. Top 200 ranked three star players Yazuz Gultekin, Andre Gordon, and Emmanuel Miller will surround Harris for years to come.
Five. Duke. Five star small forward Wendell Moore and 4.5 star California talent Rejean “Boogie” Ellis give Coach K a top 25 level start on his 2019 group. The question is “what’s next?” The Blue Devils have their eyes on Matthew Hurt, Vernon Carey Jr, and Isaiah Stewart to round out the class.
Six. North Carolina. Eleventh ranked Armando Bacot – a 17U Prep Hoops First Team All American last summer – inked with North Carolina this week giving the Tar Heels one five star player for the 19-20 season. Roy Williams and his staff hope to add multiple other five star talents (Hurt, Carey, Cole Anthony, Keion Brooks Jr, Zeke Nnaji) to join Bacot and top 125 signed PG Jeremiah Francis.
Seven. Boston College. With four players signed BC pushed their way into the upper half of the ACC recruiting rankings which is good for a national spot of 32nd in the country. Six-foot-3 shooting guard Jay Heath out of Washington DC is the headliner of a four player group (all ranked in the top 300 nationally).
Eight. Virginia. Tony Bennett had two spots to fill and he did it well inking a pair of top 75 level four star players. Kadin Shedrick of Holly Springs, Virginia is the low post of the Cavalier future standing 6-foot-11 and ranking 68th in the nation. Shooting guard Casey Morsell is a four star player that will be able to learn from Kyly Guy for a year and then step into that spot.
Nine. Clemson. The Tigers are the ninth ACC program to pull in a top 50 class. Four star shooting guard Al-Amir Dawes is the highest ranked guard/wing of the three that the Tigers brought in. Clemson still has two spots they can use to add talent for next year but Brad Brownell’s staff is off to a nice start.
Ten. Miami. The Hurricanes have their eyes on a huge 2019 group. Several of the Miami targets are waiting until the spring (Cole Anthony, CJ Walker, Vernon Carey Jr) but Jim Larranaga’s signing of four star Isaiah Wong is a nice way to try an entice the type of players they are trying to land. Three star power forward Anthony Walker also signed with the Canes this week.
Eleven. NC State. The Wolfpack only signed one player this week but it was a monster: five star top 20 point guard Jalen Lecque out of Arden, North Carolina. Kevin Keatts has more work to do but he’s off to a great start.
Twelve. Wake Forest. Danny Manning landed top 125 level shooting guard Ismael Massoud out of the Bronx as his biggest prize plus Manning still has hopes of landing Cole Anthony (Wake is in the final six). At the moment Massoud, Ody Oguama, and Jahcobi Neath make up a Deacons class ranked 65th nationally.
Thirteen. Georgia Tech. The lone Yellowjacket fall signed player is David Didenko, a junior college player from Palm Beach State College. Didenko is the 27th ranked juco prospect in the Prep Hoops juco rankings.
Fourteen. Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish has nobody committed and only a few offers out. One of them is to Cole Anthony (they are also in his final six).
Fourteen. Pitt. The Panthers have three scholarships to give and at the moment nothing signed.
