Team Preview: Rochester Hills Christian
Rochester Hills Christian plays in the Wolverine Christian League. They won the conference last year and finished 23-5. Having a small enrollment can often lead to coaches finding excuses of why a program doesn’t thrive on a consistent basis. Coach Jon Bronsing doesn’t make excuses for having a student body that hovers around 100 students. Going back the past 30-plus seasons, the Eagles have rarely finished out of the top half of its league.
The Eagles overall style is a stifling, never-stop-playing defense that creates offense in transition and wreaks plenty of havoc on the opposition. Bronsing said, “We know that we’re only as good as our defense. The best offense is a great defense. We use the pressure defense to force steals and get us out going in transition.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
ALEX COURY – 6-foot-5 senior C Alex Coury, who brings in size to the paint and is a low-post scoring and rebounding threat. His skill set allows teammates to play through him not around him.
ADAM PATTON – Senior 6-1 G, F, 16 PPG 9.4 RPG and 5 APG. Patton lead the league in three pointers and finished third in the league in scoring. His defensive prowness would make any coach proud.
KALOH HOLMES – Junior 6-1 G has taken over the reigns as the leading scorer. He runs the point and lead the league in scoring last year with 22 PPG. Along with 7 Assists per game and 10 rebounds a game he is looking to average a triple double this year.
Rounding out the roster are Michael Childress Senior (5-6 G, F), Deven Burrick Sophomore (5-4 G), Zak Connelly Sophomore (5-7 G) and Jared Montgomery Junior (5-9 C, F) and Evan Patton 8th grader (5-10 F)
