Team Preview: New Buffalo Bison
NEW BUFFALO BISON
New Buffalo finished at the top of the Berrien-Cass-St.Joseph league last year with a 10-2 record in league and 13-8 last season. With only one returning returning player from last year’s team, Coach Nate Tripp says that, “The 3 things they hope to accomplish this season are develop our youth, run an efficient offense with players knowing the difference between a good shot attempt and a great shot attempt and win districts and beyond!” Coach Tripp explained that they will have a tough defense with consistent outside shooting but will be challenged with a young and very small team. Rebounding and defending the interior could be a challenge.
KEY PLAYERS:
Tucker Morse (5-11Junior SG) -Exceptional shooter with high basketball IQ-potential college player
Kaden Parmley– (5-8 Freshman G) A freshman with unlimited potential, can shoot from anywhere, has ability to finish in traffic. Look for him to grow and develop as the season progresses.
Brennan Grott – (5’10 So. G) -A terrific shooter who works extremely hard, ball will be in his hands for much of the offense. Brennan had a remarkable season on the JV last year where he lead his team in points, assists, steals and scoring.
Coach Tripp said, “The BCS conference will be very strong! River Valley is much improved and plays hard, but Howardsville remains the class of the entire area as they are led by Dylan Jergens and they went to the state quarter finals last year.
The only time New Buffalo Basketball won a state championship was in 1963, and that was also the last time they won Regionals. Coach Tripp says, “Our goal is to get into the Regionals bracket and see what kind of noise we can make!”
