Team Preview Arlington Lamar Vikings
Team Preview: Arlington Lamar
Prep Hoops Texas continues our high school team preview coverage this time with the athletically talented Arlington Lamar Vikings. The Vikings are coached by one of the coolest, charismatic coaches in the game, Coach Jarrett Howell. Coach Howell is a coach that players love to play for because in his system, he allows them to have some freedom on the offensive end but also wants them to play discipline and hard on the defensive side as well. The Vikings have some nice pieces this year with seniors Kylan Phillips, Denzel Johnson, versatile forwards Will Joyce, A.J. Smith and the strong physical forward Marquis Sterling. These guys will bring leadership and experience to the Vikings Squad. Junior Shannon Robinson might be one of the most underrated juniors in the state. He has a chance to see his recruitment take off if he is productive this season.
Top Players/ Prospects
Kylan Phillips / 5’9” / PG / 2019
Phillips is a fast point guard that knows how to push it in transition or slow it down and get his team in their sets. He can be a good facilitator that makes plays happen with the ball in his hands.
Shannon Robinson / 6’4″ / SF / 2020
Robinson is a long versatile forward that can handle it on the perimeter, likes to get out on transition, and finish at the rim. He is very explosive and has good lateral quickness that allows him to stay in front of players on the defense end.
Final Thoughts
The Vikings have the personnel to have a really successful season but it’s up to them to control their destiny.
