Seniors That Could Outplay Their Ranking
Although rankings are here, we always seem to have those players that just simply out play where they are on our rankings sheet and we love it. What it shows is the hard work they put in over the summer and how they are willing to take the next step and take it into season.
Daniel Carr-Regis -Rank 50
Carr is surely one of the most underrated players in this class as he is the ultimate glue guy that can fit in any system he is put. No matter if it is offensively or defensively, Daniel seems to make the right play. I would look for him to be the x-factor for Regis this season and also one of the best players in the state. He has the makings to be a top 10 player this year and with the defense focused on the other studs for Regis he will fall under the radar.
Dalton Knecht– Prairie View-Rank 18
Dalton doesn’t get the credit he deserves because he plays on a team that has been underachieving throughout his high school year but Dalton is a top player in the state that will only be better this season. He had an incredible summer and proved that he is one of the top guys in the state that should rise in rankings. Dalton is player small schools should be on the look-out for and with a major year could move up.
Christian Davis—Mullen -Rank 21
Christian is poised for a huge year. This summer we saw improvements with his offensive game like more of an overall polished scoring attack. Christian is the go-to player for this Mullen team that will look to build on a mediocre last season.
Jahuale Veazy – Lincoln – Rank 30
Jahuale is a player that is better than his rankings say but it’s just so hard for him to put up huge numbers because he’s in the middle of a very talented and young team and plays his role well. Most nights he’s not asked to score and he has players around him that are so well in isolation that he doesn’t pick up the number of assists as he would as a playmaker but he is a good player with good instincts that keeps things under control.
JoVon Nelson-George Washington- Rank 31
JoVon is one of the rare pure point guards in the state that is just as effective without the ball in his hands. During his freshmen season JoVon was on track to be one the best players in the state as he was the clear-cut leader of his Warrior’s team, but after a couple transfers he looks to have found his home at George Washington and is ready to prove that he is a good player that could lead a young and talented team.
Bailey Verk– Thunder ridge- Rank 34
Bailey is every big man’s nightmare on both ends of the floor from using his body to move people around or using his high IQ to make the right basketball play. Bailey will be a constant force as he uses full effort on defense. His style of play frustrates players because he’s so aggressive, yet to creative. He is one of the state’s best difference makers.
Darien Meyers-Palmer- Rank 36
It’s hard to have a better season then what Darien had last season at Palmer. As a junior he averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds a game. He controlled the game in all aspects and will look to grow this year. With the team a year older and wiser, winning games will be the true barometer on his season. He has to get his team wins and show they are better than their 7-16 record from last season. Darien’s leadership will be the key to their success as while as taking his game to the next level and will be a player to take a look at.
Austin Holt-Thunder Ridge-Rank 21
Thunder ridge seems to produce some of the best men in the entire state, which continues to be true with the emergence of Austin Holt this past summer. They are arguable the top big man group in the full state and Austin is a big reason why. Austin is a player that showed he’s versatile as he brought the ball up and showcased his ball handling but also was the big man and controlling the paint, he does it all. With a big senior year coming for Thunder ridge it will be tough for any team in the state to contain them.
Aaron Bokol-Eaglecrest-Rank 28
Coming off a Colorado Hawks team that had some the states top players on in it Aaron fit in perfectly some calling it a match made in heaven. He provided a toughness and energy that made the whole want to step it up. In his season year were expecting that same attitude along with some great shooting as his talented Eaglecrest team looks to make a big push for another state title.
Josh Rogers- Arvada West- Rank 9
Sitting at 8 people may be confused on how he could possibly out play a top 10 ranking but were here to tell you theres a chance. Having a breakout summer like Josh did just doesn’t happen for a short period of time. It’s all based off the constant work he has and is continuing to put in to become the best all around player. With him on the court Arvada West always has a chance to win games.
