Season Opener: The Preview
RCS Sports presents the Season Opener 2018. The Season Opener host some of the Greater Houston area top high school teams and prospects. The event will be held once again at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center. Let’s review the teams and some of the prospects that will be in attendance. Jim Hicks and his staff run a first class event! The schedule has been released for this year’s event.
A star power event! The Season Opener is filled with talent at all levels. Below is the list of games and prospects to watch each game. All team rankings are based off of TABC rankings. Nimitz vs North Shore 10:30 am
Nimitz will be a top 4 team in their district this year. Couldn’t have asked for a better playoff experienced match up to start the season. North Shore looks to pick up were they left off last year. Here is the prospects to watch going into this game:

Humble vs Houston Christian 12:00 pm
Humble has been moved from 5A to 6A and look to continue their success from last year. They face #4 Houston Christian (Private Schools 6A). Houston Christian will be without Texas A&M commit Sahvir Wheeler who is ranked 10th in class of 2019. Here are prospects to watch:

Sam Houston vs Spring Woods 1:30 pm
Next game is #10 Sam Houston Tigers (UIL 6A) vs #20 Spring Woods Tigers (UIL 6A). Sam Houston is looking to continues last year success, despite the loss of Kendric Davis who plays for TCU. Spring Woods is looking to have a big season and make the playoffs again. They will have three seniors who have been starting since there freshman year. Prospects to watch this game are:

Dickinson vs Morton Ranch 3:00 pm
Another UIL 6A Top 25 match-up. #13 Dickinson Gators will be tough this year. Despite the news that junior Marcus Williams is not eligible to play due to transfer rules. The gators will still be a force to be reckoned with. #3 Morton Ranch Mavericks is the deepest team on paper. Two nationally touted juniors to led the charge and a strong cast behind them. They are the pre-season favorite to rep region III. Prospects to watch are:

#7 Yates (UIL 4A) is always a tough and scrappy team who always has a young prospect to shine each year. They will take on #22 Beaumont United (UIL 6A). This is United first year as a school and varsity team, as a merger took place between two Beaumont 5A schools to make one. Expect for them to make a lot of noise this year. Here are the prospects to watch:

Concordia Lutheran vs Port Arthur Memorial 6:00 pm
In this battle of State Champions we have #1 Concordia Lutheran (Private School 6A). Crusaders are coming off a 6A TAPPS State Title. Last year the team was filled with seniors plus one star junior and went 43-1 overall. They have added some new faces to the mix and look to repeat as state Champs. They will be facing #16 Port Arthur Memorial (UIL 5A). The Titans were last years UIL 5A State Champs. They return a lot of players from last year’s team, and look to build off that momentum and repeat as champs. Here are some prospects to watch:

Eisenhower vs Klein Forest 7:30 pm
The final game of the night host #11 Eisenhower Panthers (UIL 6A). The Panthers have very strong guard play offensively and defensively from the twins. #19 Klein Forest Eagles (UIL 6A) looks to prove a point with their team and prospect ranking. Two fast paced teams but only one can win the game. The prospects to watch this game are:
