Scouting Report: Kyree Walker
With his recent re-opening of his recruitment, I thought it would be appropriate to visit Kyree Walker (Hillcrest 2020) and review his game. Here is the Kyree Walker scouting report:
First Impression:
I will fully admit that when I first saw Kyree Walker play I went into the game doubtful, I wanted to point out a flaw in his game, but I couldn’t. All I had seen of him was all of his highlights and that type of stuff never really excites me as I would much rather see them play in person and look over their game as a whole. Kyree Walker did not disappoint one bit. Kyree is all that everyone says he is, plain and simple. The kid can ball.
Strengths:
Despite having an NBA ready body, Kyree is actually very skilled. I feel like most kids in his talent pool are usually great athletes and lack a bit on the skill/fundamental side. However, this is not the case for Kyree. Kyree is a scoring machine, being able to hit a mid-range, three, or drive into the paint and finish at the basket. He is an athletic freak, being able to spring the court in record time and rise up with the best of them. Kyree is also a gifted defensive player due to his passion for the game/competitive spirit and physical attributes. It is hard getting around a player as big and fast as Kyree.
Weaknesses:
Attitude. I think his attitude gets in the way of his game sometimes. I’ve seen him frequently go back and forth with players not even close to being on his level and I do not see a need for that. People talk about Kyree as a future NBA player and he probably is but if that is the case then I am going to hold him to the standards of a professional. Another item to work on would be his help side defense. I have noticed that he gets too focused on his individual assignment and lacks a bit in the help side.
Projection:
As I said earlier, I think Walker is a future NBA talent. I think he has the body, the athleticism, physical attributes, and skill to be a very successful player in the league. As far as college, he has re-opened his recruitment which has opened up a lot of doors for him, not sure where that leaves him with ASU but only time will tell. However, whichever college he ends up at will be very happy with his services.
