Scouting Report: Dalen Terry
Dalen Terry is a 6’5 dynamic guard form Hillcrest Prep. He is very highly ranked on all media platforms. Terry is ranked the 37th best player in the Class of 2020 and 3rd best in AZ. He currently holds offers from Marquette, Nevada, ASU, GCU, USC, Utah, Cal, and UNLV.
First Impression:
The first time I saw Terry was during a workout actually. I was shocked at how respectful and coach-able Terry was, not knowing each other prior to the workout. He took every coaching tip and did exactly what we asked. It’s also hard not to notice how tall and long Terry is. On the court, he really made an impression on me with his IQ and passing ability.
Strength:
Terry is super long and that length gives him an advantage on defense and when making passes. He is an exceptional passer, possessing the IQ of a high caliber point guard. Terry also has the skill set to get to the basket and finish around the rim.
Weakness:
I’ve seen both spectacular and poor shooting displays from Terry, specifically the three point shot. Some games, he gets in a rhythm and can’t miss from deep. Other times, he really struggles from deep. He needs to become a much more consistent three point shooter to maximize his potential.
Projection:
I think the “hype” around Terry is fully justified. All of the rankings are spot on and I truly believe he is a high level D1 guard. He has all of the physical tools necessary to play at the next level and has the IQ and skill set to be that much more successful. I imagine he makes an immediate impact on whatever college team he decides to play for. If he became a knockdown shooter, I even see pro ball in his future undoubtedly.
