Conference Commentary
Top Ten
Teams that are in the Top 10 of the State in 4A
Silver Creek – Silver Creek is going to be setup to be the best team in the area this season. With three really good returning players and really losing nobody from last years team that went for 20 wins, this could be their best chance to get to Semistate for the first time since 1999-2000. Zane Gross, Kooper Jacobi, and Trey Kaufman is the best trio in the area this season.
Greensburg – Greensburg has been setting itself up for a couple years now with their talent to be able to compete again at the top of 3A. With Comer and McLeod now as seniors and Welage and Sparks as part of the core, they should be at their best with the balance of 3A South evening out a bit.
Top Ten Potential
Teams that could be in the Top 10 of the State in 4A
Evansville Memorial – Memorial probably had their best chance to go deep in the tournament this past season. However, they bring back about half of their key pieces from a very deep team including Branson Combs, Michael Lindauer, Cade Graham, and Sam Devault. That is enough in a Sectional where Bosse isn’t the runaway best team in the area.
Princeton – For Princeton, they didn’t get as far as they wanted last year but a trio of Matt and Zach Dove along with Stephan Wilkerson return and give this Regional their best senior group along with a ton of size. Wilkerson should give them enough scoring punch on the ball to make it tough to defend.
Compete With Most
Teams that could be well above .500 this Season
Southridge – Southridge is coming off a year where they went 12-14 but the majority of their big hitters return and Jaden Hayes, Joe Lagrange, and Colson Montgomery will be keys to their success. Those three return 41.9 points per game and give them size at the same time.
Heritage Hills – Heritage Hills is sitting pretty right now with a down region this season, they have a trio of underclassmen returning in Murray Becher, Simon Scherry, and Blake Sisley. Those three were their top three scorers last season and should be even better as they all seemed to develop more over the summer. This could be a breakout year for the team.
Rebuilding
Teams that were good last year but could struggle this Season
Evansville Bosse – The run of Bosse being the hands down best team in Evansville is likely over. They graduated so much of their roster from a year ago that it will be difficult to see, at least initially, where they are going to get the pieces to replace so much offense. They do have Javen Layne and Kiyron Powell back so that is a start.
