Conference Commentary
Top Ten
Teams that are in the Top 10 of the State in 2A
Forest Park – Forest Park returns a good nucleus of talent including Curt Hopf who should spark the offense again this year. They will need some new guys to step up but there is enough pieces in 2A South to make this really interesting. Should be ranked early and could prove their worth early in the season.
Linton-Stockton – Linton is probably the likely team to come out of this Regional and vie for a State Championship. They have the pieces and depth to not only score but defend. Will have a tough road in their Sectional but still have the best bet to make it to Semistate out of this group.
Top Ten Potential
Teams that could be in the Top 10 of the State in 2A
Tell City – I think Tell City is going to be a sleeper candidate in 2A this season. With a ton of talent coming back including Braeden Beard, they might end up being a potential long shot for state. So many pieces returning off an already good team gives them a leg up and could find themselves ranked very highly early on in the season.
Compete With Most
Teams that could be well above .500 this Season
Paoli – Paoli is a team that, while losing a ton of seniors from last year, has a standout player in Brett Bosley who will be able to push this team forward for the next few years. They still have quite a few pieces coming back and if things going down in their Sectional which is expected with Crawford County, Henryville, and Clarksville reloading a bit.
Southwestern (Hanover) – Southwestern returns a good bit of their roster including two standouts in sophomore Matt Williams and senior Tyler Kramer. Both guys can really fill it up and there might end up being not as much competition as in years past.
Rebuilding
Teams that were good last year but could struggle this Season
Clarksville – For Clarksville, there is going to be sweeping changes to a team that had been made up of nearly all seniors. Christian Stewart and Murphy McEwen aren’t coming back and they will be in a whole new spot this time next week, trying to find their footing.
