Region 7-AA Players to Watch (2019)
Region 7-AA has a few teams still playing in the 2nd Round of the SCHSL Football Playoffs this coming Friday. Lets take a look at some of the top 2019 players in this region. Prep Hoops is your leader in basketball coverage in the Palmetto State all year long.
Stephon Greene – Carvers Bay HS (pictured on front)
Greene is back for the Bears and currently playing on the gridiron for the Bears. Greene 6’6 has filled out his frame and is best around the basket. Greene can fill the lane in transition but still lacks perimeter skills. Greene averaged 13.1 ppg and 9.7 rebounds for the Class 2A team. The Bears lost to Gray Collegiate in last seasons state championship game. Greene is one of the top Class AA players voted by the SCBCA this season.
Janaz Sumpter – Carvers Bay HS
Sumpter is a dual threat player on the football field as a running quarterback and defensive back for the Bears. Sumpter was (33-67) 659 yards and 8 touchdown passes while rushing for 811 yards on just 62 carries. Sumpter has 15 touchdowns on the ground this season. Sumpter for good measure has 6 interceptions as a defensive back for the Bears (9-0). Sumpter a off guard plays the game with some swag and confidence.
Darius McRae – Latta HS
McRae is back to lead the Vikings from the point guard position. McRae 5’10 was a stat sheet stuffer for the Vikings last season. McRae averaged 16.4 ppg, 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.2 steals. McRae played on the Grassroots Circuit with Big Shots South Carolina 17U.
Deonte Stanley – Latta HS
Stanley is off the board and headed to play football at the University of Central Florida next season. Stanley recorded 24 receptions and 305 yards this season for the Vikings.
Xavier Legette – Mullins HS
Legette has had a HUGE year for the Auctioneers on the football field. Legette has picked up interest from the University of South Carolina and Tennessee on the football field. Legette a Quarterback/Wide Receiver and Athlete will play in the 2nd Round of the SCHSL Playoff this Friday. Legette has thrown for (39-74) 686 yards and 8 touchdowns this season. Legette has piled up 1,163 yards on just 72 carries (15.2 yards per carry) and 14 touchdowns.
Legette actually shoots the basketball left-handed but throws the football right-handed. Legette told Prep Hoops he took a visit to Rocky Top and the University of Tennessee this past weekend.
Direlle McGee – Kingstree HS
McGee is a touch minded kid on the hardwood. McGee will look to lead the Jaguars this season with the graduation of several seniors from last seasons team. McGee 5’10 gets the ball in the lane and has the ability to hit open shots. McGee has seen extensive playing time since his sophomore season. McGee averaged 11.5 ppg last season for the Jaguars (19-8).
Cameron Profit – Hannah-Pamplico HS
Profit just capped off his football career for the Red Raiders,. Profit had 38 receptions – 788 yards heading into the playoffs last week. Profit is for sure one of the most athletic players in the Pee Dee Region. Profit can play above the rim at times and really excels in the transition game. Profit averaged 10.5 ppg last season for the Red Raiders.
Tyrek Langley – Johnsonville HS
Langley 6’4 is a post player who plays with his back to the basket. Langley is a RAW talent but does have a good look to him with broad shoulders. Langley averaged 8.2 ppg and 7.3 rebounds last season for the Flashes.
Rayquan Kinloch – Andrews HS
Kinloch 6’3 undersized post player is looking to have a big season for the Yellow Jackets. Kinloch averaged 7.1 ppg and 6.3 rebounds last season.

Carvers Bay HS – The Bears will play in the Panther Classic and Pepsi Carolina Classic this December.
Mullins HS – Can Xavier Legette and his teammates overtake the Bears ?
Hannah-Pamplico HS – The Red Raiders will need to replace Kobe Praylow
Latta HS – The Vikings will be led by Darius McRae this season.
Kingstree HS – The Jaguars have lost a lot from last seasons team.
East Clarendon HS – The Wolverines are new to the region this season.
Johnsonville HS – The Flashes should surprise a few teams this season.
Andrews HS – New coach and no Carrele Cooper this season for the Yellow Jackets.
