Region 6-AA Players to Watch (2019)
Region 6-AA is located down in the Charleston area of the Lowcountry. Oceanside Collegiate is eligible for post season play this coming season. Lets take a look at the top seniors in this region right here on your leader in basketball coverage from the Palmetto State.
Shane McCravy – Oceanside Collegiate (Mount Pleasant) (pictured on front)
McCravy is the best player in Region 6-AA and will look to lead the Landsharks into the post season for the first time in school history. McCravy had a great showing a few months back at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach. McCravy 6’4 can really get the ball to the basket and has a solid mid-range game. McCravy really excels in the classroom with a 4.5 GPA.
McCravy averaged 19.8 ppg last season and is named as one of the top players in the Palmetto State by the SCBCA. McCravy is ranked #31 in the 2019 Palmetto State Rankings. McCravy was ranked by the SCBCA as one of the top seniors in the Class AA ranks this season.
Isaiah Archie – Oceanside Collegiate (Mount Pleasant)
Archie a point guard is back to lead the Landsharks. Archie can really get the ball into the gaps and find the open man on floor. Archie should help the Landsharks into a deep playoff run this season. Archie averaged 11.1 ppg and 3.8 assists last season.
Adyn Kirby – Oceanside Collegiate (Mount Pleasant)
Kirby 6’6 has really picked up his play since the summer playing with Rock Nation Impact. Kirby has played more assertive and aggressive on he floor. Kirby runs the floor well and his quick off the floor.
Jaden Anderson – Oceanside Collegiate (Mount Pleasant)
Anderson is a great glue for the Landsharks after transferring over from region foe Burke HS. Anderson has the ability to play inside-out on the floor. Anderson never lacks effort on the floor while in the game.
Dal’mont Gourdine – Garrett Academy
Gourdine 6’5 undersized post player is a big time football recruit on the gridiron. Gourdine a brusier in the paint really likes to play on contact. Gourdine will play in the North-South All-Star Game in Myrtle Beach this December.for football. Gourdine plays DE/DT on the football team. Prep Hoops first saw Gourdine suit on at North Charleston HS as 8th grader.
Marquez Terry – North Charleston HS
Terry a left-handed shooter will be relied on a lot this season for the Cougars to provide leadership. Terry needs time and space for shot. Terry can really catch on fire when open on the floor.
Tyler Sumpter – Timberland HS (St Stephen)
Sumpter has the Wolves in the 2nd Round of the SCHSL Football Playoffs. Sumpter 6’1 averaged 14.5 ppg and 5.4 rebounds last season for the Wolves. Sumpter like Gourdine will also play in the North-South All Star Game in Myrtle Beach this December for football. The game will be December 15 at Coastal Carolina University.
Prep Hoops Projections
Oceanside Collegiate – The Landsharks will be senior heavy and post season eligible this playoff season.
North Charleston HS – The Cougars will battle under Head Coach Chris Brown.
Garrett Academy – Can the small school in North Charleston top rival North Charleston HS this season ?
Timberland HS – The Wolves will battle for the playoffs with the help of Tyler Sumpter and others.
Burke HS – Can the Bulldogs make a claim to the playoffs this season ?
Phillip Simmons – Just a 2nd year program with some up and coming talent.
