Region 3-A Players to Watch (2019)
Region 3-A might be the biggest region in the Palmetto State with 8 teams. The region is not loaded with seniors this season but plenty of talent will be coming out of here in the next few years. Lets take a look at the top seniors from this region right here on your source for high school basketball recruiting news in the Palmetto State.
Marlow Gilmore – Hunter-Kinard-Tyler HS (Neeses)
16.3 ppg, 20.3 ppg and 20.5 ppg have been the averages for Gilmore the past three seasons. Prep Hoops first saw Gilmore play as a freshman. Gilmore 6’7 left-handed run-jump-athlete played this summer on the Grassroots Circuit with the Columbia Hoyas. Gilmore hauled in 13.2 rebounds a game last season for the Trojans.
Gilmore is the choice for Prep Hoops as the top player in the Class A throughout the Palmetto State. Queens University of Charlotte, Catawba (NC) (NCAA D2), Salem University (WV) (NCAA D2) and Lincoln Memorial (TN) (NCAA D2) have all shown interest in him this season. Neeses is located in Orangeburg County. .
Jerry Tyler – Ridge Spring-Monetta HS (Monetta)
Tyler 5’9 is a jack of all trades for the Trojans. Tyler last season helped the Trojans make it back to the Class A State Championship for the first time since 1955. Tyler plays multiple positions on the football field. Tyler plays safety, cornerback, wide receiver, returns punts and kicks and even some wildcat quarterback. Oh forgot Tyler also runs Track for the Trojans.
Tyler likes to play fast and really get out in transition. Tyler excels from the 15-17 feet range on the floor but won’t hesitate to launch one from downtown. Tyler scored 20 points in the State Championship Game last season vs Hemingway HS.
Desmond Murray – Williston-Elko HS (Williston)
Murray 6’3 wing player was trying to handle the ball more this off season. Murray the last few years has been playing in the post for the Blue Devils. Murray averaged 18.3 ppg and 7.6 rebounds last year for the Blue Devils. Murray runs the floor well and really lacks a true position on the floor. Murray played on the Grassroots Circuit with Upward Stars-Riverfront this summer.
Keshawn Toney – Williston-Elko HS (Williston)
Toney more than likely wont play basketball this season for the Blue Devils after committing to the University of South Carolina Gamecocks for football. Toney played tight end for the Blue Devils.
