Region 2-A Players to Watch
Prep Hoops keeps making moves around the Palmetto State and checking on teams. Today we will look at Region 2-A. The Great Falls HS Red Devils will be the cream of the crop here in this season in the Upstate.
Rasheim Lyde (2019) – Timmonsville HS (pictured on front)
Lyde is a great athlete who plays multiple sports for the Whirlwinds. Lyde averaged 14.4 ppg and 7.6 rebounds last season. Lyde will be the leader this season for the Whirlwinds.
Jamaric Morris (2019) – Timmonsville HS
Morris 6’3 is the quarterback on the football team for the Whirlwinds. Morris picked up a scholarship offer earlier this fall from South Carolina State on the gridiron. Morris has a nice mid-range game and has the ability to get the ball to the cup.
Kelton Talford (2020) – Great Falls HS
Talford is hands down the best player in this region. Talford is back for Head Coach Jimmy Duncan and the Red Devils (18-5) last year.Talford averaged 19.4 ppg and 11.1 rebounds last season. Talford runs the floor really well and fills the lane in transition. University of Maryland Eastern Shore has shown interest in Talford this fall.
Sincere Wilmore (2020) – Great Falls HS
Wilmore 5’8 undersized shooting guard plays with a lot of intensity. Wilmore ran with the Carolina Pressure this summer on the Grassroots Circuit.
Tyron Fleming (2020) – Timmonsville HS
Fleming 6’5 played with the Carolina Dream Team on the Grassroots Circuit. Fleming a left-handed forward has a slender-sleek frame. Fleming runs the floor well and has good activity around the cup.
Devon Bristow (2020) – McBee HS
Bristow 6’8 is still a bit RAW talent but showed really good improvement a few months bask at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach. Bristow didn’t play on the Grassroots Circuit and is a virtual unknown throughout the Palmetto State. Bristow has good length and still has his best basketball in front of him down the road.
Jacquez Lucas (2019) – Lamar HS
Lucas is a multi-sport athlete for the Silver Foxes. Lucas was voted Preseason Morning News Football Player of the Year. Lucas ran for 1,375 yards last season and 18 touchdowns. Lucas hauled in 24 receptions – 538 yards. This season Lucas has his team in the playoffs once again with 103 carries – 680 yards and 12 touchdowns this year.
The Governor’s School is a very strong academic school who brings players in from around the state. Generally kids stay here for no longer than 2 years. The Governor’s School is located in Hartsville.
