Recruiting Riser: Demar Anderson (2020)
North Mecklenburg HS is one of the premier basketball programs in the state and this year they are right there in the thick of things to be a state title contender. 2020 duo Demar Anderson and Tristan Maxwell are the guards that will help 6-foot-6 wing Chris Ford and company get to that point.
In this article, we take a look at 2020 guard Demar Anderson. Anderson is a scoring guard that can also distribute the basketball. At a jamboree (scrimmage) over the weekend, Anderson scored 10 points and dished out 6 assists in a win for North Mecklenburg. He attacks the paint, has good upper-body size to guard multiple positions and can shoot it from the outside. He has a high basketball IQ, understands the game and is coached by one of the top coaches in the state ranks, Duane Lewis.
He picked up an offer from Appalachian State over the weekend to go along with offers from USC-Upstate and Robert Morris. Anderson is proving himself as a Division One prospect with two seasons still ahead of him.
Hofstra and Rutgers have shown some interest in the guard and I think his best basketball is still ahead of him. He is getting better at handling the ball, getting stronger in the weight room and is making better decisions with the ball in his hands.
He is a strong student in the classroom, sporting 3.0 GPA. He is a kid that colleges should recruit with his demeanor and self-less playing. He is a scorer that also understands the importance of setting teammates up and getting the ball into the right players hands.
