Recruiting Report: Max Christie (2021)
Rolling Meadows 2021 shooting guard Max Christie is the top prospect in the sophomore class in the state of Illinois. Long and rangy 6’5” wing with a feel for the game and is a plus shooter. He broke out on the national scene with his play during the USA Basketball Mini Camp in October. His recruitment has picked up even more since then! We caught up with Christie to talk about the experience going against the best of the best in Colorado Springs!
“It was great coming out to compete with the top players in the country and experience an Olympic feel. It is always good to go out to Colorado Springs and have fun with the great guys and get the experience of USA.”
What did he take away from that experience?
“Obviously if you want to be great you have to separate yourself with the little things. Communicating and attention to detail. Everybody knows you can score. You have to do the little things and talk. The whole point of it to have fun and enjoy each other.”
There were rave reviews from the evaluators in attendance that PHI talked to about his play. He told us what he thought he did best.
“I think I shot the ball well there. My leadership was good. I can probably work on my defense, but the two best things I did there was being a leader and shooting the ball very well.”
What is the latest with recruiting?
“Vanderbilt came in for an open gym. I am going to a Northwestern game next week for the opening of their new arena. My parents and Coach (Jon) Scheyer from Duke are scheduling a visit for January.”
Christie rattled off an impressive offer list.
“Loyola, DePaul, Stanford, Illinois, Northwestern, Florida, Wisconsin, and Purdue.”
Also recently landed an offer from Ohio St on an unofficial visit. Look for things to continue to progress as the season goes along!
