Recruiting Report: Kyler Rodmon (2020)
Trinity Catholic earned a big man talent in Kyler Rodmon from Orlando Christian Prep.
The 6’8″, 240-pounder spent his sophomore year with a team that featured three true big men in North Carolina freshman Nassir Little and Texas commit Kai Jones and top 2019 forward CJ Walker.
“I am working to become one of the best players in the state and I think I will show some of that this season as I have matured as a player and as a person,” Rodmon told Prep Hoops.
Rodmon was able to capture a state title with Orlando Christian Prep last season. He says playing with those guys showed him that if you put in the work, you can be the best.
Now at Trinity Catholic, he says he’s excited to be able to show his game for his new squad.
“I think we have one of top teams in the state and my coaches have been working with me and helping me become a well-rounded player,” Rodmon said. “I made the switch because I felt like Trinity Catholic was a great situation academically first and a great fit for me on the court where I am surrounded by shooters.”
He spent the summer with 1Family where he played in the spring but suffered a back injury in July.
“I am healthy now, but I have been with 1 Family since my 9th grade year. I will continue to be with them because we are a family,” he said. “This coming AAU season I believe I will turn a lot of heads with 1 Family as I think we have one of the best 2020 groups in the state.”
No offers have come yet NC State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Georgia State, FSU, Georgia and Stetson have shown interest.
He says his biggest strengths are his rebounding, shooting and passing out of the post. He wants to improve his conditioning, footwork and agility.
Rodmon is an emerging prospect who should make a name for himself at Trinity Catholic. He gives them much needed size down low and if he can knock down the mid-range consistently, everyone will be better off.
