Jon Hylton is one of a few experienced players on this year’s version of Coach Rocky Carter’s Osbourn Eagles, who are off to a 2-0 start on the young season. Hylton, an unsigned senior who was a standout in their first win of the season vs. Freedom-Woodbridge, discussed his recruitment and overall game during a recent interview with Prep Hoops.

PH: How would you evaluate the team’s performance in your first win of the season?

JH: “Probably a 7 out of 10 in my eyes. There are a few things I think we could work on as a team.”

PH: What’s your role for the team this year?

JH: “Just being a leader. Hitting shots. Doing everything. Hitting shots. Rebounds. Being a vocal leader.”

PH: What are your grades like?

JH: “Pretty good right now. All A’s and B’s.”

PH: Who’s recruiting you right now?

JH: “I have interest from VMI, CNU, and some D2 schools.”

PH: What type of feedback do you get from college coaches?

JH: “They like how I’m aggressive. I see the floor and can handle at my size.”

PH: Is passing an underrated aspect of your game?

JH: “Yeah, definitely. I like to find my teammates and get good shots.”

PH: What’s the most improved part of your overall game?

JH: “Definitely shooting. I’ve improved every year in shooting threes and free throws.”

PH: What are your goals?

JH: “To have the best record we can and to be all conference.”

PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?

JH: “High energy. Listening to the coach, communication, and just working hard.”
